Fighting Fantasy number 20 sees the return of the writing duo Mark Smith and Jamie Thomson, and even though they are working usual medieval fantasy world of Titan, the setting is still a little out of the ordinary as the land of Hachiman is an analogue of feudal Japan. Aside from the system of honour points, the emphasis on Samurai culture, and various creatures inspired by Japanese mythology, however, it's still your basic sword and sorcery (well, katana and sorcery) tale in which you have to gather magical items and defeat the baddie trying to take over the world.
Peter Andrew Jones' cover illustration of the Undead Samurai has a wonderfully surreal flavour, whereas Alan Langford's more realistic interior illustrations bring the land of Hachiman vividly to life.
