Onions comes in many shapes, as perennials or annuals. Chives, garlic, leek, onion, siberian onions, shallots…and many more. 🧅🧄 Onions are something that is the easiest to grow with a good result. Onions have been eaten and grown by humans for as long as the stories tell, and in many kitchens onions are the basis of the most common recipes. Therefore always include onion in a garden plan. Onions do not require much nutrition, but are happy with a good soil and not having to struggle too much with weeds. Grow from seed or from the small onion clones from the top-setting onions or bulbs from the multiplier onions. As an example banana onions and spring onions can be sown from seed in november. Cover with soil and wait for spring. The seeds will sprout in early spring. Other onions, red onions and zittauer onions, shallots and garlic can be planted as “baby bulb onions”. Plant them as soon as winter is over, and harvest new fresh bulbs from mid-June and the rest of the summer. I’ll recommend (not advertising) to look after onions to plant this autumn at Naturplanteskolen @naturplanteskolen.dk - They have so many different exciting ones! #alliumcepa #onions #oniondiversity #kitchengarden #perennialonion https://www.instagram.com/p/CUATffgMmoB/?utm_medium=tumblr
