Ted talk 1 [1] Mikko Hypponen: three types of online attacks
This ted talk spoke about three types of online attacks. These types are;
- Online criminals, these guys want to make lots of money. They do this by stealing money from your bank account, or when your shopping online.
- Hacktivists, an example of this one is the group: anonymous. They hack for the protests.
- Nation of states. Governments that have tools to hack their own citizens. This one is in my opinion the most pathetic one. I can get very angry when I know that the government is doing research on me right now. And even though we live in the Netherlands who knows, maybe the government is spying on me right now when I’m writing this article. But in the end God will decide what is right and what is not, so Government if you’re hacking my computer and read this article think of your crimes. Think about what is right and what is not!
- “So western governments are providing to totalitarian government with tools to do this against their own citizens” I choose this one because it reflects what governments are doing to this world. They sell tools to totalitarian governments where the government has all of the power? Seriously, when I heard this I was very confused. If this ted talk is telling the truth then I don’t find it bad that there are hacktivists. In fact let them hack the entire government. If we can’t even trust our own government anymore, measures have to be taken…
- “And no one seems to make the fuzz about it” I choose this one because of the people that don’t watch out on the internet. People have to be careful with what they are doing on the internet. And I think it will only grow worse in the years that have yet to come. Eventually the technology will grow so hard that it will be almost impossible to be safe on the internet. I think this quote reflects the reality that we are living in right now. You don’t know if anybody is hacking your computer and is reading with you when you are searching on the internet, so please be careful.
