TAROT TIP – Compare & contrast Tarot cards that appear next to one another. Johoanna @thebookishfox would like to know how to read Tarot cards in combination with one another. There are many ways to go about this. One way is to describe their COMMONALITIES & DIFFERENCES. If I pull a two card spread, or if I see two cards appearing side-by-side in a larger spread, the first thing that I note are the COMMONALITIES. When two cards with shared similarities appear next to one another, they are pointing to important information. Let's take the TWO OF SWORDS & THE HIGH PRIESTESS as an example. We can see that these cards both feature figures who sit in front of large bodies of water, suggesting that this reading is about an emotionally charged situation. Both also look away from the water, as opposed to looking directly at it, suggesting that these emotions exist in the background, but are nonetheless influencing what happens at the surface level. The second thing that I note between two cards are the DIFFERENCES. Taking stock of what two cards don't share in common can sometimes highlight tension or challenges that the querent faces. The figure in the Two of Swords wears a simple white robe. By comparison, the High Priestess dons a much more elaborate outfit and a crown on her head. The querent is moving from being an ordinary, common person to someone who is in an extraordinary and elevated position. The querent may be facing some challenges that involve a rise in stature. What other commonalities and differences do you see in this card combo? There's so many. Share your thoughts in the comments below.
