So secretly reading these books has made me want to study Chinese just a little bit. As a joke. I am an absolute beginner who has only spent a few days working through the mandarin course on mango. But like imagine my delight when I finally read the translation notes at the end of hob volume 1 (did not want to read it sooner due to potential spoilers) and the first thing I see is the ‘Xie’ in ‘Xie Lian’ can mean ‘thanks’ as in ‘xie xie’. That’s one of the words I’ve learned. lol.

My problem forever is that I want to write fic but I have no idea what to write. I think I'm a good enough writer to actually execute on my ideas if they're robust enough but I'm not good enough to actually get to 'I can work with this' level.
