Dr. Li Han thinks, mainly there is a bipunctate in the existing problem at present as to EPON, as to 10G symmetrical EPON technology, the light module is employed and will be limited, estimate it within 3-5 years, it will be limited that 10GEPON technology employs under the symmetrical mode. As to 10G antisymmetrical mode, PON upper and lower bandwidth of 10G and 1G differ greatly, will become the applied restriction.
Lie in the industrialization question of the chip to the subject problem of present GPON at the same time, the cost of market is too high. GPON and EPON all add light module with the chip at present, two kinds of technical chips among them are different from proportion capital, if the scale of GPON is expanded in the future, expected to be fair in EPON cost.
Dr. Li Han shows, this one in the light module, basically technology is and materialzation at present. To chip, depend on quantity mainly, i.e. quantity of G-PON, price of chip might G-PON lower than E-PON. Under this prerequisite, G-PON each bits of cost is under half of E-PON.
It is reported, there are few technical countries that adopts EPON or GPON in the whole world completely at present, except except day, American and Europe carry on arrangement of PON, now in the intersection of eastern Europe and developed area, including Russia scale dispose but also FTTx begin commercialization already.
As to the situation of PON in the future, there is statistical report that reveals, including already disposing in Freneh Telecom, Deutsche Telekom, Portuguese telecommunication, Romania at present, Europe and terminal station have arrangement for scale 100,000 and 300,000.
