Little blip of Anon potential lore for today! 🌌
So... Had a thought or two about the Observers, pertaining to this outfit exploration for Sal and whatnot. Potential, nothing set in stone.
(Which, worth mentioning, a reminder for those not in the loop: Sal herself is not an Observer, but her father was fascinated by them, Etherealism, etc. and Sal is just… a byproduct of those fascinations - in various ways, so to speak, hahaha. She's not one, but they are most definitely of interest and she pursues finding out more about them for herself - one of many motivators as to why she wanders the cosmos restlessly…)
Wayfarer's rings, Observer robes, Carthinium mirrors (those special mirrors that can be treated like portals/warps - primarily how Sal is able to make her way around the cosmos) - Observer Things. These are all related to the Observers. We're focusing on Wayfarer's rings and those robes in particular, though. Focusing on nanotech on-person.
I had a thought… about there being even more elaborate programs those nanos are capable of running… that are not only able to store, construct and deconstruct material data, but also rearrange it via following schematics/blueprints…
Which is just a technical word spaghetti way of saying: ✨ Observers could have the capacity to suit up like Magical Girls. ✨
Nanos are such a scapegoat for cool and fun BS in Anon - the Observers are very technologically advanced and much of Anon's more fantastical mumbo jumbo is often allotted with being a stray artifact of theirs or something or other. They already have tech that can be used for item storage and identification purposes anyway.
(One of my favorite programs, actually, is known as NEBULOUS - it manifests a nebula like cloud to… well, cloud their facial features, etc., while helping the user manifest a nebulous identity - very playful in the words department!)
So… to have programs that could be used to not only change clothes, but alter the clothing material itself into different forms is not entirely impossible! Again, as long as it had blueprints to read, think of it being akin to like… futuristic scanning and 3D printing.
(A fun thought or two to add to this as well: damaged attire has damage reflected in any alteration and gathering necessary materials to repair the damage can be scanned and utilized by nano programs to make repairs.)
Essentially, Sal's "mint green black lace" aesthetic could be what it is because it's just the same materials being rearranged into different outfits that are dictated by nanos. Different looks, all Observer.
Meaning all these outfits will likely have their little twinkling nano "stars" a.k.a nano tech clusters (visible mostly when active) and Observer logos/insignias on the back - Observer Brand Name™.
However, personal items (like the Nyalan feather jewelry and Wayfarer's ring, for Sal) are unique, they are incapable of changing form, not being connected to these nano programs. They can be stored and withdrawn, but they cannot be reshaped.
