the sins that make our sons // a brief overview
wip directory here
the sins that make our sons is an in-development story (loosely defined as sci-fi) that takes place some few years into a civil war on a distant planet (between a race of aliens who once adored humans so much that they chose to shape themselves in their image). posts on worldbuilding tbd.
this specific wip focuses on the story of Prayer, a Synvrai from the city-state Alaras, as he and his child flee to Vocaneyas. In a desperate attempt to escape the consequences of past secrets should they ever come to light, Prayer enlists in the war, where he will work directly under the highly-revered Hand: Polaris of Amity. He works to earn the Hand's trust and protect his child, dodging his past at every glimpse of it. But he can't run forever.
focuses heavily on topics such as... trauma and the different impacts it has; the struggle to reclaim one's autonomy; parenthood as a whirlwind of love and guilt and fear; the repression of/disconnect from one's emotions - and the destructive breakdown it ends in; feeling things you never thought you could.
features things such as... an unrealistically intimate war, intersex aliens (w/ masc pronouns by "default") who are generally gender-indifferent (unless they aren't), polyamory, a lack of labels for sexual/romantic orientation, unintentional mental links, accidental child acquisition, and a secret baby or two.

combining the ace mis and the valentines deadlines might have been among the worst things i’ve done
oh thank GOD i can finally publicly talk about your body my temple
so with it being heavily hinted that sydney will be sacrificed in the podcast, i think it’s striking that the song seems to imply elijah dying or at least wanting to sacrifice himself. and it could just be non-literal expressions of extreme devotion, sure, but i have a lingering suspicion that the upcoming ceremony will not be what it seems.
mostly i’m just eternally obsessed with these lyrics bc “as all hell breaks loose as all hells always do what the hell can i do to have a little more heaven with you” HELLO I Die
Shit I didn’t fold Any of the clothes I was supposed to fold while watching that
Just watch, after all the White Rose crumbs, and all the big Nuts and Dolts moments, Gemstones was end game the entire time
