@bonesofmetal, continued.
It was easy to fall into the same mindset of some of the Johns; to consider himself as something other than an actual person. Addison steels himself to violence, to the times when fingers dig into his skin or motions were too hard. People paid to use him as they wished and it was as if the means didn't matter as long as he got the money. As if there wasn't a bar -- a line that could be crossed for expectations.
This comes solely because of Addison thinking too low of himself. It's why being offered the can has him blinking as if Sawyer was speaking another language. It's why there is hesitance before a hand reaches out to accept it. Cold metal ends up placed against darkening skin and relief spreads over his cheek and towards his eye. It was nice, yes -- and actually drinking the thing would probably help him too.
The exchange is almost gentle. Caring. Something that makes lips quirk up, tone teasing. A moment that has to be ruined rather than focused on for his sake --- for the sake of dodging an opportunity to let someone in close.
"... are you actually worried?"
