OOC: Break time
Hey all. I'm taking a small break from tumblr probably just for the night on all of my blogs. I just need a breather. Please stay safe. You are so very loved more than you know.
Goncharov (1973)
Ok I am obsessed with this movie. Personal stuff out of the way so I don’t get too sappy with the actual review(though it’s for sure going to be biased). First time I watched this film was actually last summer! Had a phase where I secretly went through the TV during work. Must’ve watched this one like 7 times... ah those were the times. Anyways enough reminiscing, lets get to the actual review:
The actual plot, I feel, is really quite simple. Man by the name of Goncharov goes to Italy, hired by the mafia. They shoot some people, have some homoerotic scenes, have main characters dramatically die, and then roll credits. But somehow it feels different. deeper. I am usually opposed to white gay couples but somehow it just.. works? The surface level tension of “will we get out of this alive?” cuts deeper into the “will he get out alive?” with the simultaneous understanding that life is unfair but life is meaningless if you don’t make the best of it? I am Still so surprised no one picked it up sooner than yesterday because goddamn this movie thrives where others have fallen. Like that puppy-in-an-abandoned-shed scene, if you catch my drift. (Sir Alessandro the Bulldog did NOTHING WRONG EVER y’all just like tension too much). Anyways Goncharov’s internal conflict?? The ever-present clock-ticking that you don’t notice until the climax??? and Katya. I don’t think I need to explain her.
Overall score: 15/10 I swear this is not just the nostalgia talking
Bonus Homoeroticism Rating: 9/10 80% of it is from the apples Istg.
Unofficial Award I will Reward it: Top Tumblr Film of 2022, not everything can trend a day after it was rediscovered.
Pinned Post
After Goncharov(1973) started trending I had to do something about my lack of participation in writing film reviews on Tumblr because if people can talk about a movie from fifty years ago then I can do this!
Hey, the name’s Victor, and welcome to this madness. Pronouns are He/Him, I’m Asian American(Chinese to be specific). Favorite movie is Goncharov(1973), as stated in my description. Surprisingly, I tend to write more about coming-of-age, heartwarming, drama, etc kind of genres instead of action but I’ll write about anything that’s recommended to me.
And the most important thing to remember, I cannot stress enough, is that everything above is fake. Well, not everything. But OOC stuff will be under the cut:
i’m gonna play league for a bit. hahahahahahahaha
