OOC Week: Day Five
I'll mostly focus on english-spoken media, for the sake of convenience here.
Favourite band(s): Sons of Perdition. I've yet to listen to something by them that I dislike. Death country is my jam, y'all. But also: Reverend Glasseye and His Wooden Legs, The Peculiar Pretzelmen, Tiger Lillies, Nicole Dollanganger, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Tom Waits, The Goddamn Gallows, Dresden Dolls, Evelyn Evelyn (and, alternatively, Amanda Palmer), The Brothers Bright, Lana del Rey, The White Buffalo, The Exploited and Johnny Cash.
Favourite song(s): Hurt, by Johnny Cash. I know it's a cover, but it's probably the only song that has ever left me a complete weeping mess after first hearing it. It was such an intense experience. Johnny Cash speaks to my soul.
Favourite book(s): Germinal, by Émile Zola. It changed my life. It was in this book that I've truly learned the meaning of revolution. It shaped me to believe in the things I do today. Some other favorites: Skippy Dies, by Paul Murray, Flowers in the Attic, by V.C. Andrews. The Phantom of the Opera, by Gaston Leroux.
Favourite quote: "Do not go gentle into that good night; Rage, rage against the dying of the light." by Dylan Thomas.
Favourite movie(s): Freaks, by Tod Browning (yes, the 1932 romance-horror classic that's still banned in Texas. Shame on you, Texas). Brothers of the Head, by Keith Fulton and Louis Pepe. Gummo, by Harmony Korine. Literally, everything by Harmony Korine.
Favourite tv shows: Carnivàle aka the HBO show that no one else has watched. The Walking Dead, my pointless, nihilistic mess of a zombie soap opera, The Netflix Marvel Trinity (Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones), Preacher (have you seen it? GO SEE PREACHER), House MD, Westworld, Downton Abbey, Stranger Things, The Get Down, Inside Number 9, Over the Garden Wall, Steven Universe, Avatar: The Legend of Aang.
Your first RP: It was a roleplay on GAIAOnline called Aything Goes, it was a multi-fandom, multi-muse rp. But here on tumblr I think it’d either be the PJO RP Prophecies where I played a daughter of Hecate or Ashworth RP the big supernatural rp where I played a young shapeshifter I think.
Other RPs you were in: Prophecies, Ashworth, House of Wolves, Yesterday, MuddyWaters, and like a dozen other HP rps that crashed and died rather quickly.
Your first character: While I’ve had alot of characters, I think the first one I ever really did alot of work with, development, para’s and not one I had for a couple of weeks and then the rp crashed and burned would actually be Katie Thorne from OL.
Your favourite character that you’ve ever RP’d as: Again, Katie, she was such a versatile character who could go in a dozen ways. Her development was strong, and I did a lot of work to change her from just a troubled prankster to a valiant auror that she became in my mind of her timeline.
Your favourite FC to use: Ellen Page or Eliza Taylor honestly, they have alot of versatility in their range, and lots of resources. For men I’d say Jack O’Connell or Zac Efron or Diego Boneta because they are extremely versatile, lots of resources and easily accessible for multiple tropes and plot lines.
FCs you have used: Dakota Blue Richards, Ellen Page, Eliza Taylor, Jack O’Connell, Kaya Scodelario, Sofia Black D’Elia, Lindsey Morgan, Evan Peters, Taissa Farmiga, Kristen Stewart, Elise Bauman, Zac Efron, Kit Harington, Maisie Williams, Diego Boneta, Kathryn Prescott, Kiera Knightly.
FCs that have been absolutely ruined for you (no offense intended to anyone playing them right now though): Holland Roden, Tyler Posey, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson.
Your dream RP/an RP you’d like to join or make: In the works ;)
Do you prefer to admin or be a player? : I’ve done both, I prefer being a player, as long as the admin is someone I trust to do good work and isn’t an ass hole. But I like admining as well!
What personality type do you think you play best?: Characters who are quick. Now what I mean is characters who have sharp minds, they are quick in their reactions, even if mentally they pace things out or plan. Dani & Katie are good examples of the a-typical character I play- though they are hot-tempered, troublesome, or even just plain annoying there is a methodology to their madness and their ability to change. I don’t like characters that can only go one way, I want a character that can straddle a dozen different paths, someone who could as easily change courses with just a new interaction or a new idea. I like characters who are ‘gray’ in their morals or ‘gray’ in how they go about things. Penny could end up being a good example of this-- choosing radicalization, putting aside her own morals for the benefit of her people but to tarnish herself.
A character (or character type) you’d like to play in the future: There is a character I’ve been wanting to bring back, sort of, he was always in the back of my mind and I’ve slowly developing him and combining him with other traits. He’s the muse that escapes me, probably cause he is a lot like me. I don’t know if I’d ever bring him back, but a down-to-earth, solid, loyal and a character who is more of a cornerstone than a key-player in the overall world is what I’d like to play and that I’ve played.
Do you think your writing has improved through roleplaying?: Oh my God yes! I still have Katie’s original blog, it still exists, and so do al the threads, and the shit tagging, and my writing from way back then! From the first drabble I posted to Penny’s writing I’ve developed and changed my writing style so dramatically.
Gif chats or paras? : Paras, as an overtyper I love Paras, I like gif-chats but you don’t get as much development or mind-work with your character in gif-chats.
Open starters or planned threads? : I prefer planning threads, but open starters always first to play with characters dynamics.
A memorable roleplay moment: You know, Operation: Riot from OL’s original run really was a high-point. I had developed my character so much, it really felt like a war, it was a turning point, it was a change. I did some great para’s with Anna with her then character Tuesday & Katie, there was some drama between Katie’s girlfriend Cassidy (Lisa’s character). But I think the most memorable moment when I was rp-ing was a thread I did with Carlie, when Katie and Keller broke into the Ministry of Magic. It was there I really got to work with Katie’s strengths, it really showed what she was able to do, and how she could be more than just an orphaned abused Gryffindor prankster. She needed all her ability to lie, to sneak, to make and create potions. It really gave her the thing she needed to become the person who went charging into battle during Operation: Riot, or the girl who developed a spying network within Hogwarts walls.
Have you made any friendships through roleplaying?: Oh hell yeah, Lisa, Carlie, Bee, Kari, Maggie. Guys, some of the original crew from OL I love, I talk to all the time (looking @ Lisa who I text constantly). They are great friendships, great people, and some of my favorite in the world.
Why did you start roleplaying, and why do you continue to roleplay?: I like to challenge myself, I like to work with others, I enjoy reading other people’s work and see how they write and change even parts of my style to aspects of theirs. I’ve really grown as a writer, as someone who liked world-building, character development, plot making. I don’t think I’ll be stopping anytime soon either!
What country are you from?
I am from the United States of America specifically I was born in Southern California and raised in Northern California. I specify myself as NorCal girl, and I was raised in the North Bay around 30 miles from San Francisco and spend most of my days, nights and weekends in The City, Berkeley, Oakland, Hayward ect. It’s sorta important to remember that I’m Californian cause that’s mostly how I’ll be answering these questions since the United States is so large so traditions and the culture can vary from state to state, and even more specifically the divide between Northern and Southern California is very prominent even with speech patterns, slang, dialect and well... everything.
What is your first language? Do you speak any other languages?
English is my first language, I can speak a conversational amount of Spanish because it would be really difficult to not know any in California, I also know words in Tagalog because there is a large Filipino population in my town and especially at my schools, as well as the tiniest amount of Latin thanks to Catholic school.
What language would you like to learn?
Italian, Spanish, maybe learn like French or German.
What’s one movie from your country that you like (or recommend others see)?
Don’t touch me, my family is from SoCal, films are like what they live and breath, even my Dad. I grew up watching films, so I’m not going to say just one, because I’m trash okay. So let’s talk, the must see films that have been produced, directed and written in America would be; Giant (1956), Dead Poets Society (1989), Rebel Without A Cause (1955), American Graffiti (1973), The Birds (1963), The Godfather (1972), Sunset Blvd. (1950) Juno (2007), Little Miss Sunshine (2006), Fargo (1996), Dances With Wolves (1990), Funny Face (1957), Citizen Kane (1941), Her (2013), All About Eve (1950), Meet Me In St. Louis (1944), Working Girl (1988), Across the Universe (2007), Sound of Music (1965), Sophie’s Choice (1982), Inglorious Bastards (2009), Birdman (2014), Pulp Fiction (1994), Life of Pi (2012), Auntie Mame (1958), Grand Budaest Hotel (2014), Spotlight (2016) Do The Right Thing (1989), Jaws (1975). This is from a really long list of films that I happen to love and just adore, like I could keep going for the next few days on the subject, but these films I would say are a great explanation for the ‘American’ film style. Plus I’m excluding all the animated films, cause this would gt really long, really fast, and it’s already pretty hefty.
Pick a song from your country (or in your language) and talk about why you like it.
Bitch, here is a list of artists, cause a single song is too much to ask, that I think are important to this country; Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, Nirvana, Janis Joplin, Green Day, Pearl Jam, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Elvis Presley, Joan Jett/The Runaways, The Ramones, Talking Heads, Diana Ross/The Supremes, Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac, Carlos Santana, Tupac Shakur, Micheal Jackson, Jimi Hendrix, Arthea Franklin, Selena, Lou Reed/The Velvet Underground, The Beach Boys, Little Richard. I can literally keep going, but I’m not total trash.
Pick a classic song from your country - aka one that everyone knows, one that’s representative of your country, etc.
There are a number of songs that everyone knows, they might not be fucking genius songs, but we all know them, or at least out here in Cali we do; California Love (Tupac), Yay Area (E-40), Thriller/Billie Jean/Smooth Criminal/ABC (Micheal Jackson), Sound of Music (Julie Andrews), Smells Like Teen Spirit ( Nirvana), Wonderwall (Oasis), Barracuda (Heart), American Idiot/Blvd. Of Broken Dreams/Most of the Dookie ALBUM (Green Day), Welcome To The Black Parade (MCR). Again I can keep going and it will get ridiculous. Also the fucking Macarena.
What’s a book from your country (or in your language) that you’d recommend?
Dharma Bums (Kerouac), Coming of Age in Mississippi (Anne Moody), The Awakening (Kate Chopin), Love, Castro Street (Katherine V. Forrest), The Autobiography of Malcolm X, Anything Steinbeck tbh, Slaughterhouse 5 (Vonnegut), J A C K L O N D O N.
What’s your favourite childhood story from your country or culture?
Bro, alright, some of my favorite childhood stories are mostly Disney Films, Pied Piper, and I would even say that Harry Potter to me is considered a childhood story though it’s British & not American.
Talk about a tradition from your country or culture that you love celebrating.
Halloween/Dio De Los Muertos is a big tradition, both culturally for my ethnicity and for generally living in America. I love the event, both sides, the religious & and commercialized stuff.
Fave food from your country/culture:
American Food: BBQ & Mac ‘n’ Cheese & Root Beer w/ Flan as a dessert, and don’t talk to me about Chile Verde. Like fucking Y U M.
Best season of the year in your country?
Summer in California is where your life should be at.
What’s one thing that you wish you could change about your country? Why?
Trump. Also the Alt. Right, because they’re Neo-Nazi Trash and IDGAF about their current ‘moniker’ because they are traitors to everything our Military fought against in WWII and the lives lost. Also the amount of sports channels we have, it’s a bit unnecessary.
What’s one thing that you’re proud of about your country?
Freedom of Press, Freedom of Religion/Freedom FROM Religion, our goddamn Military is the world’s fucking finest, I love capitalism, I love our history of revolution, evolution, revolt & rebellion. Our love our tradition of thought, of the melting pot of cultures, I love every single equalizing movement in this country and every person’s voice even if they’re dumbasses who should be quiet, I love that they can speak.
Name a country you’d like to visit.
Italy.
Top three cities you’d like to visit:
New York, New Orleans, Chicago.
What’s the best place in your country that you’ve ever visited?
I grew up in the Bay Area, where places like Berkeley and San Francisco are places people dream of going to, and where I go to on a whim to pick up records, or grab lunch, or go see a film. I go to school in Napa, and bitch about traffic as I pass world renowned vineyards. I go to LA alot because of my family, so driving there, walking down Hollywood & Sunset, being there is a bit of a trip but also normal. The best place I’ve visited, in this country this far, is Hearst Castle-- a monument to American extravagance, capitalism, architecture, natural beauty, California life, the Press, and equal rights. Built by William Randolph Hearst, the rival of Pulitzer, a newsman, a media conglomerate. It rests in the Heart of California, off HWY 1, North of San Luis Obisbo. It’s entire architecture, the building, the site, all of it was created by a woman named Julia Morgan, a pioneer at the time for being a female architecture, having attended in University of California Berkeley, and became an architect far before when women got the right to vote in 1920. Hearst Castle is the melting pot, and symbol of Californian dominance and a sign of things to come of how media would shape California. It’s one of my favorite places in California and I encourage everyone to visit.
Have you ever been abroad (out of your country)? If so, where did you go?
Nope. I lied, I went to Mexico for two weeks when I was like 8, totally forgot.
What are some myths or stereotypes about your country or culture that are either true or are false?
The ‘hardworking Latino/a’ is pretty true, I’ve yet to meet someone from my culture & ethnicity who doesn’t work so fucking hard.
There are way too many American stereotypes, most of which are moderately true, though not explosively wrong either. Mixing pot guys.
OOC Week 7: Differences
Eva Bella Young was my oldest OC, made her when I was 13. Back then, she was around the same age as Anakin and she was much more extroverted and rebellious and she had a crush on Anakin, but it wasn't reciprocated. But over he years, she evolved to who she is now, a 10-13 years old Jedi Knight during the Clone Wars and more introverted, just like her portrayal in the HoloNet Transmission.
Ava Lira Young was created when I was 16 when I decided that Eva should have a twin sister who's extroverted and loves flying ships. Like Eva, she would also be 10-13 during the Clone Wars and sticks together with Eva for most battles and missions. She started off as a sidekick to Eva but as the years went by, Lira became the one who leads while Eva would help her out behind the scenes.
Also, originally, Lira and Eva would be the one who also learned the truth behind Fives' death and ended up faking their death before the Clone Wars ended, avoiding Order 66. Here, they will experience Order 66 and faked their death so that the Empire never finds them.

my first impression of your muse: What an adorable child, what has Holly given me to adore?
my favorite thing about your muse: He’s so kind, and nice, it’s really enjoyable to have him on the dash.
would I ever consider shipping our muses: I don’t think so, their personalities are too different to ever be shippable. But they could be good friends even fi Penny can be really highstrung.
a plot I’d like to see between our muses: I think maybe something around transfiguration, since Han is a metamorphugus and Penny is a transfiguration whiz. I think it’d be interesting for them to talk about it.
an AU I think would be interesting for our muses: OH-KAY. BUT HAN BEING A TRIPLE THREAT, AND PENNY BEING A SONG-WRITER/MUSICAL WRITER!!! They work together in the same business and cross paths and Penny decides to write MUSICAL WITH HIM AS THE LEAD!!!
IC Questions:
{send off anon} Send me a ◉ and my muse will say one thing they like and one thing they dislike about yours.
Penny likes how sweet he is, and likes that he is such a happy person generally speaking.
Penny hasn’t interacted heavily with him, so she doesn’t really know what she dislikes about him, but whenever she does she’s rather struck by how little he talks.
{send off anon} Send a ✿ and my character will answer these:
A thought about them that they’d never share: “He’s just so handsome.”
First impression of them: “What are those cards? Does he do Divination.”
Favorite thing about them: “What a nice person.”
Least favorite thing about them: “He never wants to talk, what does it take for him to just say something.”
Hopes for their future relationship: “We should get some tea together, and really talk.”
✜ ◉ ✿
My first impression of your muse: Oh no. He's a cold hearted asshole. He's my type of character. Oh no, someone stop me. (It was already too late rip).
My favorite thing about your muse: I love Lennox's personality and how he doesn't shy away from being really terrible. It's easy to hold back a character that it's really supposed to be mean, because we're afraid of going too far. Lennox never shies away from the ugliest parts of his personality, and I adore that about him.
Would I ever consider shipping our muses: Well, yes. They'd be the most unhealthy, dysfunctional couple in Hogwarts, but it hasn't stopped Solo from wanting it.
A plot I’d like to see between our muses: Can they actually salvage their relationship? I'd certainly love to see them try, once Lennox realizes that are actual feelings under all the bitterness they share.
An AU I think would be interesting for our muses: For some reason, when it comes to Lennox and Solo, all I can think of are war AUs. Maybe it's because that's the core of their relationship - the power struggle, the constant fighting, and how they're on opposite ends of a battleground more often than not. So imagine them on opposite sides - I can see Lennox upholding the status quo, while Solo would definitely fall into the guerrilla category. They have history, but they're enemies, and yet they can't bring themselves to really end the other, even if that betrays everything they believe in.
◉: "I like who you were, who you could be. I dislike who you are now."
✿:
A thought about them that they’d never share: “I will always forgive you, no matter what you do.”
First impression of them: "We could be friends."
Favorite thing about them: That they're fucked up in such similar ways. Solo relates to the worst parts of Lennox, and they enable the most self destructive part in each other.
Least favorite thing about them: The lack of affection. Lennox shows everyone else around him some affection, but never Solomon.
Hopes for their future relationship: Either the two of them finally working through some issues and finding a place that's not so destructive, or going all out and ruining each other to the point of no return.
✜ ◉ ✿
✜:
My first impression of your muse: Literally: "What a pretty boy." I thought the metamorphomagi thing was really ingenious considering how many looks these kpop kids go through.
My favorite thing about your muse: I really like how fleshed out his family/his family's culture is. I'm a sucker for complex family dynamics, and exploring the cultural differences between different places in the Wizarding World. The whole thing about their performing school is so interesting, I can't help but want to know more.
Would I ever consider shipping our muses: Oh god no. I couldn't possibly do that to poor Han. He's too good and too pure for Solomon. Solo is the type of person to kiss him on purpose and shatter Han's fantasies and dreams about his first kiss, he's a menace.
A plot I’d like to see between our muses: More conflict! But also something to do with Han's future reading? Because Solo is very afraid of the future, but he'll try to pretend he's nonchalant about the whole deal and secretly be VERY WORRIED about whatever it is Han predicts.
An AU I think would be interesting for our muses: I'll go all out and say I'd love to see a historical AU set in the 19th century, during the western foreign invasions - Solo as a British officer sent to Korea to occupy Geomun Island in 1885. I'd love to see the cultural clash between them.
◉: “I dislike your entire personality, if you can even call that a personality. But hey, nice hair.”
✿:
A thought about them that they’d never share: “He's a better person than me.”
First impression of them: That he was nice... too nice. No one could possibly be this nice, so it must be bullshit. And bullshit is Solo's kingdom, no one bullshits him like that.
Favorite thing about them: That he's friends with Theo.
Least favorite thing about them: His personality.
Hopes for their future relationship: Conflict conflict conflict. Maybe Solo trying to push Han's buttons, to see how far his conviction to always be good goes. Solo takes some odd pleasure in pushing people too far.
