I mean I do love me the tragedy of how their story canonically ends (ESPECIALLY when Annatar catches feelings too)
But for RP purposes, I was thinking about 2 more fun scenarios:
── .✦ Redemption Arc: Annatar abandons his evilTM plans because he's fallen too hard for Celebrimbor and discovers he actually enjoys being loved by the people of Ost-in-Edhil. Healing isn't straightforward though. It's messy and full of setbacks. And does he ever tell Tyelpe the truth??? I won't even call this the "wholesome" option because it can go so many ways asdfasdf
── .✦ Corruption Arc: Celebrimbor gets corrupted. VERY unlikely, because Tyelpe is fundamentally good and canonically let himself be tortured to save everyone else. BUT if anyone could pull it off, it's Mairon.... with a lot of brainwashing and dark magic. Also pls imagine sexy Celebrimbor on Mairon's lap on his throne I MEAN

me: i wonder what the pure evil wiki has for norman's crimes...
that.... that is a tiny scroll bar.......

Actually, just me rambling a bit about that scene in the Shadowfell bc it hits close to home adsfsdfds
I won’t go too much into detail, but I can relate to SH and the moment she has to make that ultimate choice in the Shadowfell, knowing that no matter what she chooses, there’s no way back, no do-overs & her life will never be the same. Ughhh that scene spoke to me on so many levels (aside from just being an absolutely incredible video game moment)
Choice A, becoming a Dark Justiciar) feels right to her, even though she’s already struggling internally. She’s been so fuckin brainwashed that she can’t fully see how wrong it is (even though a small part of her has always known). It’s the quick fix. She not only fulfills the lifelong dream she was groomed to chase, she also gets these incredible powers and it’s one heeell of a drug when your GODDESS calls you her CHOSEN. She says she’s thriving, and for now she probably believes it. But in the long run, we know she won’t truly be happy. Ultimately, she will become a hollow vessel for Shar’s will. She even tells you when you romance her that you have no future together because Lady Shar will demand everything of her. Her entire heart. If she chooses this path, she will, over time, lose more and more of herself until there’s nothing left. *SOBBING*
Choice B) is SH going almost on autopilot, pushing past every indoctrinated voice in her head and yeeting the spear into the void because some small part of her — instinct, courage, whatever you wanna call it — takes over. Buuut regret and doubt hit immediately. Like, you can see she was 99% sure she just doomed herself and ruined her life. When she says she doesn’t feel like the same person anymore, it really shows how life-changing that decision was. She chose pain, uncertainty, rejection, turning her back to everything and everyone she has known so far. But she made that choice for herself and that’s incredibly brave. It’s not the easy path. As she says in the epilogue, happiness is a battle you have to fight for, but now she actually has the chance to fight for her own future, and you can see it was worth it.
Honestly, from an RP perspective, I love both versions because they BOTH are stories worth telling. I just adore her character arc so much.
