Gonna put it under the cut because it talks about today’s housing stuff and how much of a dick I am. I know there are some people that follow me will say I’m part of the problem SE has with housing, but I kinda don’t care(?) because I managed to accomplish one of my personal goals. So if you’d rather sit and complain that I’m part of/an issue, I just…don’t want to deal with it, so just skip this post - I just want to share what happened and my journey to a Large home.
So progressively through my gaming, I’ve been building up to eventually one day own a Mansion. Yes, I know, Mansions/Larges should very well be for FCs and individuals shouldn’t have a need for a house that big - even I have stated that, but progressively, through my gaming, I can at least say that if someone started from the bottom (nothing to a small home - apartments didn’t exist when I started) and progressively worked their way up could feel accomplished once one achieved such a goal to hold possession of a large home. I started with a small when I was able to purchase land - I was so excited, then moved to a Medium in two different places upon becoming a huge crafter, working for my gil (for the small I had some lucky sales from stuff my retainer would bring back and a little help from a now former friend who was paid back promptly once I had the gil). Then Shirogane came to be, and I had found a new dream plot upon gaining the capability (and gil) to mange getting a Large. I tried when housing was first brought to SB (friends cheering me on knowing I had worked hard to get the gil) but failed miserably; however, I still had my dream plot Medium in the Lavender Beds. It was fine, it happens, so I still held onto my gil, knowing that a house would either eventually demo or new wards would open up…today was that day new wards would come to be, and I could again try my luck. Though I worried because I wasn’t sure relocating actually worked, so if I couldn’t get my personal, I’d end up moving the FC to the Large instead - one of the discords I’m in reassured me that I’d be able to move my personal…the waiting game was on.
I planned everything just like I did when Shirogane was first released - 50 million gil on my person, switched to ninja, had my busy macro as well as sprint ready upon log in, standing near the aetheryte in the FC’s ward…even spoke to another to avoid the ward they were going to try to move their FC house to. The closer it got to 5 am EST, the antsier I became because there was no patch download - I’ve had issues downloading patches in the past…so fear I’d miss out was there (that’s the only reason I stay up on ‘important’ patch days - usually housing patches). 4:59 am hit, and I managed to log in, but, with everyone trying to log in as well, the lobby crashed, so I had to be quick to try to log in again - this same thing happened to me when Shirogane first came to be. Logging in again, I got into queue, 165 - I knew I had a slim chance as my first attempt at the first release had me at over 300 in queue (where no mediums were left, but my friend had managed to get in with that number and snagged 2 mediums - one for his personal and one for his FC). I kept hitting refresh, wanting my number to go down faster, but one click had me moved to the actual loading screen - I thought it was going to kick me again…it was the longest 30 seconds (if not longer) I had to sit through, shaking and panicking.
The minute I could see my toon, I clicked the porter - went to the newest ward’s page and saw both plots I was hoping for taken, I didn’t even bother with Ward 14 and instead went to Ward 15 - the ward I was first going to attempt in the first place. Plot 30 was taken, but I immediately swapped to the subdivision page, plot 60 was still open. Now, my load times are terrible, and I probably should have ridden a mount to the plot, but I had what aetheryte I needed to use, and I clicked on it - I had no idea if, by the time I got there, the plot would be taken. Ported, saw 5 different people standing at the sign, one with busy up, others just standing around it - no doubt it was taken. But curiosity got the better of me, I selected it - it was still up for grabs! I wasted no time, selected purchase, selected relocate personal home, and I saw on my screen a few seconds later “Relocation Complete!” I was shaking and in tears - I had accomplished my long time gaming goal of owning a Large, and it was a Large in my dream spot. I knew at any time I was clicking the purchase sequence that someone else could have done the same thing I did or had been in the process of completing it. Nothing was said by the others standing by the sign, another had even walked up as well - only assuming they saw that the plot was taken even though the home had yet to actually transfer and be visually ‘built’ on my screen, but even I was prepared to have to rebuy my housing permit, reskin the home…but thankfully, it all carried over.
Now, having my new home, I started to think that I should move my FC - even though I held my personal home in the Lavender Beds, my FC was in Shirogane…and I spent all - if not most of my time - in Shirogane at the FC house. I had gil left over from the move as well as some gil left over in my retainer, and I started thinking that I could just move the FC in front of my new home in the small that’s right down the stairs. It was a long debate, but I shrugged it off and figured I’d wait to see if the one actual FC mate I have that hops on would want to move in front of my home instead of where we were. I ended up running Expert to calm my nerves, and a few moments later, the in-game wife piped up in our linkshell - he had overslept/slept through their alarm as they were intent on getting a Large upgrade for their FC. We started talking about how he could move the the Medium house in my ward, how canonly my business (the FC house) is indeed in front of the wife’s house. With his move, I’d have to move to the small across the way - that was no problem at all really, I had gil to do such a thing, but since his ‘new home’ would be a bit awkwardly placed, the small FC would have been neighbors instead of in front of the house. I did make mention that if there was a canon move of the shop, it would be either ending up in front of my house or with and upgrade to a Medium. He commented that there was still a Medium open besides the plot he was looking into, and I agreed, I would have either gone with the plot he was looking at, or the one he mentioned by the beach (he got protective of the plot he was eyeing for his move, so that one was out). He asked how much gil I had left over, grabbed what I had left in my retainer, and went to ‘move’ the FC to the Medium by the beach. I was 6 million gil short of the move - he covered it. My canon shop grew and got an upgrade. Of course, him walking away and saying something else had me panicking he didn’t have enough gil for his own move, but a few minutes later, the notification of the shared estate’s move was complete.
Of course, now I have to redecorate everything again, but that’s for another time and going to be a very long process (currently only my front yard is redone and a few things were placed in my home - so it’s closed off as well as the FC until I find time to redecorate). The only thing that stayed intact was my office in the FC house XD; But I did fix the chocobo stable, aetheryte, and mailbox at the FC house.
In the end - canonly - Utai, the wife, and his business has officially moved into Shirogane Ward 15 Subdivision.
@ceocu ‘s Wisp gets Anon, telling that ‘he dates a monster’ and whatnot, referring to my McCree just using him, even mentioning his metal arm as a bad thing
Meanwhile, my McCree: -is a total sweetheart, chats casually about food, brings his boyfriend Starbucks, sends hearts via text message, is in love with Wisp’s big dog, cares a lot-
“Ye bring me ‘ere...after all th’ ‘ell I went through? Just what are ye on t’day, love?”
One of the MANY screenies I took during a photoshoot with @tempexiii this evening :3 I’ll post another one the other two from the ‘Lochs set’ some time tomorrow evening :3 I’ve noticed that with his sword drawn (hard to tell in this screenie, but it is), he just looks so...miffed compared to his dorky and usually happy nature XD;;
