oohhshiny , I believe you wanted to read this, based on this “prompt”, taken from your list of scenes we weren’t given on screen:
Carol being given Sophia’s doll (found by Daryl) in season 2
She was apparently brought up to speed off screen about the details involved about Daryl’s adventure and where he found the doll. (Daryl was unconscious when T-Dog discovers it on the ground but we later see Daryl showing Rick, Shane and Hershel where it was that he found it on a map.) So I’d like to know when Carol found out. And by whom. She clearly knew everything he had been through by the time she brings him his food later that night, as well; (”You did more for my little girl today than her own daddy ever did his whole life.”) Sooooo, I get the feeling they spoke before that end scene, no? I guess I’m greedy but it would have been lovely to have seen Daryl witnessing Carol tearing up over having a piece of her daughter back again. Something that he was able to bring her.
For once, there is something I can give back to you in return for your wonderful gifs and feels. :-)
"When we reveal ourselves to our partner and find that it brings healing rather than harm, we make an important discovery- that intimate relationship can provide a sanctuary from the world of facades, a sacred space where we can be ourselves, as we are… This kind of unmasking- speaking our truth, sharing our inner struggles, and revealing our raw edges- is sacred activity, which allows two souls to meet and touch more deeply."
oohhshiny replied to your post:twd spoilers: tonight's filming
Keep Calm. It’s all speculation at this point. <3 But even if it were true, keep calmmmmmm. :)
But I don't know how to be calm. This is why I personally hate spoilers this freaking long before the show actually starts to air. I just really, really don't think they are going to kill off their only original remaining female cast member. Please tell me I'm right? *clings to your leg and sobs ugly sobs*
if they kill Carol off The Walking Dead then I will be so so mad
not only is she the last female survivor from the Atlanta camp in season 1, I still don't feel like I've seen enough of her
she is one of my favourite characters in the show and I think it would be such a loss to kill her off because of a few reasons: let's look episode by episode
she started out as a shy woman who lived in fear of her abusive husband but still tried to protect her daughter from him
she had to kill that abusive husband with a pickax furiously from all the pent up anger she's experienced over the years of her marriage
in the season 1 finale she hands Rick the grenade she had in her bag which allows them to escape the CDC so, really, without her they would have blown up with the building
throughout the beginning of season 2 Sophia is missing but the majority of the time is spent caring for Carl who has been shot and she remained strong from that (and, arguably Daryl's help in the search for Sophia)
even though she is missing, Carol thanks Daryl for his help and also looks after him when he is injured during his search
in the season 2 mid-season finale she watches as her own daughter comes out of the barn as a walker and then as Rick shoots her in the head and yes, she cries, but get this- a woman does not have to be fierce and emotionless and strong 24/7 to be a good character (and Melissa was amazing in this scene)
she let's Daryl take out his anger on her and stands there and tells him to "go ahead" as he shouts at her
in the season finale of season 2 Carol is trying to reassure Lori that Carl then is left on the farm to fend for herself as she runs and tries to escape the walkers almost helplessly (then gets rescued by Daryl- thank god)
the first episode in season 3 shows that Carol has become more handy with weapons and has a jokey comfortable relationship with Daryl and has more and more self confidence. she's also got a stronger relationship with Lori and helps her with her pregnancy
Carol helps to aid Hershel after he has been bitten and then asks for help with a female walker so she can get to know the body better in case she needs to aid Lori in her pregnancy- doesn't get more helpful and awesome than that, my friends
in 'Killer Within', Carol is separated from the group after running from the walkers that invade the prison and she is assumed dead
if we're going to argue her importance in the group, let's refer to 'say the word' when Carl suggests they call the baby Carol (among others, yes) which stresses she was thought of as and important and prominent member
Carol is finally found in 'Hounded' after days but she is still alive after all this - no food or water for days - (if we're going to reference Daryl's reaction to her loss then okay-
) then in the episode after she has to deal straight away with the new baby and Lori's death all in one go (this is the death of a very close friend who Carol has known since before this started) and then, later in 'when the dead come knocking', she is seen taking care of Judith straight away taking on the responsibility
in 'made to suffer' Carol observes Axel talking to Beth and carefully pulls him away from her to make him stop bothering her and she suspects his advances (so she is also looking after other members of the group) and then takes him up to look in the watch tower
when Carol learns that Daryl has left with Merle, she crumbles slightly in front of Rick because he had been her friend and can't quite believe his loss but then, later in the episode, she tells Beth that the world needs men like Daryl and that he has a code. she's strong and copes with his loss in front of other people in the group
in 'Home' Carol has become more friendly with Axel only to have him get shot by the Governor right next to her. to protect herself, she uses his body as a shield to protect herself presumably whilst grieving for him at the same time
when Daryl eventually returns, she tells her she's glad he is back and then reunites with Andrea who she thought was another of her dead friends. bUT LET'S TALK ABOUT 'I AIN'T A JUDAS': she tells Andrea to kill the Governor to end all of this mess and then (in a deleted scene) she tells Merle not to mess with Daryl or else she will slit his throat whilst he sleeps- I mean woah wow, Carol
in 'this sorrowful life' Carol is seen having another discussion with Merle and, regardless of what he has done in the past, tells him that she doesn't mind that he is with them as long as he is on their side and that Daryl is also on their side. AGAIN, Merle references the fact that she is no longer the shy little mouse she was at the Atlanta camp to which she says she was in her "husband's shadow" and has quite clearly developed to be her own strong, intelligent, helpful character in the show since then
she holds Daryl's hand for a brief second and offers a comforting smile to him over the loss of Merle then, at the end of the episode, helps people from Woodbury off the bus and for them to get settled in- again, she didn't go off fighting but a woman does not need to be a fighter to be a good character
Okay, Season 4. in the opening episode she is seen cooking for the growing camp in the prison and maintains a flirty/ friendly however you want to interpret it relationship with Daryl. useful to everyone, right? then, at the end of the episode, Carol is teaching children about knives and how to use them and, ultimately, how to fight and survive in the reality of the apocalypse they live in
in the second episode- 'Infected'- Carol helps to get people back in their cells after the cell block has been infected. she has to kill Lizzie and MIka's father whilst taking on the responsibility to take care of them both and Lizzie is relaxed in Carol's company
Carol continues to aid the infected members of the group in the other cell block whilst also admitting to killing Karen and David (I still don't think it was her who did it but okay this isn't the point right now) and looking resigned. even if she did, it was for the good of the group and to prevent their unnecessary suffering in the end. I'm not condoning her possible actions, there was probably a way around it -if she did it- but her intentions for the group were good
throughout 'Indifference', Carol fixes the boy's dislocated shoulder, helps to find food around the houses her and Rick are near, and tells him that she no longer speaks about Sophia because she is in the past and that her and Ed are dead. Rick makes the decision to banish Carol and she clearly gets upset over this then is on her way- by herself in the apocalypse
now, despite people's interpretations of her and Daryl's relationship, Daryl is quite clearly upset over Rick;s decision to banish her
which shows he valued her as an important member of the group
SHE RETURNS IN 'INMATES' oh happy days, I could hardly stop smiling when I saw her I mean she shows up and is carrying a knife in one hand and holding Judith in her other arm- hell yes
IN CONCLUSION, I can't wait for more episodes with her in because I think Melissa McBride is such an amazing and beautiful actress and she deserves every minute of screen time. In my opinion, she is underrated as both an actress and as Carol. Carol is a strong character and has survived this long so to kill her off now would be a complete waste of a character and actress
if you read all this then thank you- I just needed to spend over an hour writing all this because I am sick of people calling Carol weak and useless. she is flawless and your favourite character could never
