After the week she’d had thus far, Toph definitely needed a break from the happenings of Spiralefes. The activities were fun and all, but without her friends to enjoy them with it all felt a little...much. Being in a big city like this without any of them around felt like a lot all on its own. Getting away from everything for a while sounded like just the reset she needed.
Ideally the first place she found that would give her some quiet time would’ve been a bit less...sandy. Just the feeling of the beach between her toes reminded her of that day she let her friends down- the day where she felt truly helpless for the first time. But maybe she needed a place like this after all. Maybe she needed the opportunity to learn in less dire situations, to train and overcome that crippling weakness of hers that the desert exploited.
Toph eased into her ready stance, drawing a slow breath, feeling the ground beneath her. It was tough as in the desert, but she couldn’t sense anyone around...maybe it’d be safe, even if she could only get a little practice in with what this place allowed. After a moment longer, she slid her foot and brought a hand up, attempting to erect a barrier from the sand...only her foot was clumsy on the shifting ground of the beach, and what should have been a rising wall of sand sounded more like a small percussive blast. Maybe she needed to be a bit more careful. On top of that, the sound of someone in distress accompanied the result of her bending- she must not’ve been able to sense the person there and they got caught in the blast. “Sorry! Are you okay over there?”
