How does everyone get along with Eliza's parents? I read your Christmas fic, (which I enjoyed, by the way), but what about later on in life? What do the kids think?
Aww thank you, that’s so nice! I’m actually super proud of the dialogue between Alex and Eliza in that one, glad you enjoyed it! And super good question.
I see Alex as never being quite over his nervousness around his in laws, he’s a little scared to do anything that might ruin his reputation with them, he always feel like he’s on thin ice. But they (especially Philip) honestly really like him. Aaaand then he ruins everything with the reynolds affair. In my mind, I don;t see Catherine Schuyler ever forgiving him for that one. The reception is always icy after that, even after Eliza forgives him.
I think the hamilkids are pretty close to their grandparents? Like, they’re the only one’s they’ve got and I feel like they were really useful when Alex and Eliza were scared young parents so were around a lot when they were babies. I bet the hamilkids have insane amounts of fun running all over the schuyler grounds and Eliza gets major nostalgia pangs watching them.
Yeah, I like this question. Family dynamics, good stuff.
