about the hair ties, I find on my clients with thicker hair the jelly hair ties tend to be a bit sturdier, & ones that have a rubber grip around them. Just remember to not put your hair up in the same pony tail/ bun every day as this causes breakage

thanks for the advice!! i think i’m gonna buy a pack of these twisty jelly ones to give it a go, they’re pretty cheap so if i don’t like them it’s not that big of a loss. and i try to not tie my hair up too much, but i live somewhere really windy, and i can’t eat/brush my teeth with my hair down anymore, so i do need to tie it for at least an hour everyday, but i realised last week that it’s finally long enough for non-french braiding, so i’m trying to do those more often. :)
