There are 2 main types of BAMF Sakura in fanfics and its 'secretly a clan heir (usually senju or uzumaki)' and 'can just kick your ass because of hard work and fuck you', and the dichotomy of liking both is just The Worst.
Like, I love Mokuton!Sakura and Uzumaki!Sakura 'because the only reason she didn't have anything special about her is because kishimoto hates woman and couldn't bother to extend her potential to anything but a tsunade clone' (which is true).
But, at the same time, I always feel vaguely insulted that it implies that she had some sort of natural advantage all along when the cool thing about her is that unlike naruto (who masquerades as an underdog but we the viewer know from day one hes got, at minimum, the 9-tails), she legit started from less then nothing; a civilian preteen with pitiful chakra reserves, no work ethic, and basically no real clue what's she's getting herself into. And she becomes *the godaime's apprentice* anyway, cause *fuck you*. And I love that so much, especially when its explored in an interesting way in fic rather then just making her an aforementioned pink tsunade clone!
So, on the one hand, that 'fuck you I'm gonna be the best even without clan bullshit' element is everything she deserves but, on the other hand, part of me still enjoys her getting mokuton or the healing bite or whatever because it's cool and she also deserves to be given the natural advantages that basically everyone else in the show got.
I have the exact same problem with TenTen, who would make a kickass undocumented Uchiha, but became a weapons master and one of the best taijutsu masters in the village just fine without cheating eyes.
