Remi is one of five children and grew up as the eldest girl of the bunch, which always made her feel personally responsible for the younger three.. Her parents were never around much, as they are very involved with a vast social life and often left Remi and her older brother Joshua as the only two to care for their younger siblings.. This put a lot of responsibility on her shoulders and forced her to grow up faster than she she would have liked. Because she felt such an obligation to her family, Remi never complained about the situation. She didn't want her siblings to grow up without any strong sense of authority and she did whatever she could to make their lives a bit easier.
Through high school, Remi was also very involved with a variety of extra curricular activities. Between classes, her position on the schools tennis and track teams, as well as her leadership spot in the anthropological society, Remi was very busy through the week. Adding in taking care of her siblings left her with a lot to deal with. So, when it came time to choose a college at the end of high school, Remi made a decision for herself for a change. With a sports scholarship to play tennis at UCLA, Remi made the move across country to attend a college far from home. She felt that it was time to start branching out for herself, rather than spending her entire life taking care of her siblings, no matter how much she loved and cared for them.
Now that she's in college and has settled in, Remi feels a lot less pressure, even if she still has a lot on her plate. She calls home often to keep up with her family and is still very involved with their lives, but the distance has helped her really grow as her own person and learn more about herself.. Even if she only visits home now and again, Remi is sure that her decision was the best thing for her. As she is starting her last year at UCLA, Remi is starting to look to the future again and is hopeful that she'll be able to get a job closer to home so that she could be with her family again after graduating.
