It was something they both agreed on, a long time ago that being together was dangerous and although it tore every good thing out of him to leave them, he knew it was the right thing to do. When he left them, it was as if they took all the goodness with them. Nothing made sense before them and now they were gone it only felt just as blurry and unfocused. Edward couldn’t completely leave, perhaps that was the selfish part of him that he needed to make sure they were safe. He’d always keep his distance and never let the other see him, they never could catch him but he was there every now and again but only for a moment, too long was too painful. But if pain meant keeping them safe, then Edward was more than willing to sacrifice himself to that purpose as it was what he deserved. He watched as they carried on without him, as they found someone new, saw them be happy again. That’s all he wanted and that’s all he could ask for even if it had been a whole two years since they last spoke. It seemed weird to lose all that time and yet it felt like just yesterday that they had first met. Perhaps they would bump into each other again soon...perhaps fate wasn’t finished with them just yet.
