"When have I not been careful?" Lydia asked sarcastically. She laughed to herself and shoved her desk drawer shut.

" Eren's going to change the world. He's going to make all of this worth it in the end, you'll see."
Shattered (New Thread)
He couldn’t move......his whole body was broken and he could barely keep his eyes open, despite the looming shadow in the corner of his fading eye threatening to overtake him.
What.....happened...? Flashes, pain....loud noises, fire everywhere......roars. So much, not enough.....screaming in his head that wouldn’t stop. It was quiet now where he lay, but a tense silence.....like trouble could erupt at any moment. But he couldn’t make trouble.....he was too battered to even try.
All he could do was lay there as his body burned through what energy he had left to start repairing the damage.......a low echoing hoot that could be heard throughout the ruins rumbling out of him.
He was scared......he felt.....so alone. Where was the big one? Where was his friend? They were always together.....where was his giant best friend?

After a morning spent training and forgetting, Lydia came downstairs to the Institute’s main floor. She took a seat at a desk in the far back of the room and opened her laptop, pretending to work, while watching Aldertree’s movements at the front of the room.
Darwinism (Open Thread)
The modern world. Machinated, a world of consumerism and information at a moment's notice.... Weakness. Everything was too easy. There was no struggle, no earned notion of survival. He could almost see his father Ba'al turn in his grave at the mere thought of such laziness. The memories of his father where toxic at best. Ba'al showed him love, but more often than not he treated him more like an animal than a human. As a child he remembered crying himself to sleep after a day resulting in bone battering bruises... Weakness. Without pain, there was no strength. He was at his throne, watching news footage from all over the Earth. A thousand languages...he understood them all. Wars where everywhere....at least there was some survival of the fittest going on in the world. He would have to being a similar test to the humans alive in this city of New York. It had been too long since they faced a threat. And he was prepared to give them one.
* You arrive at the library to find that the lizard that should rightly be behind the desk has taken to the ever popular hobby of stalking the neighbors while muttering ominously to themself.

Wedding Reception Shenanigans
Hrinthe was happily seated at her table, waiting for someone to bring her a share of the fish that was being served to the other dragons. She could see the spirits having their own party high above the floor, enjoying themselves with whatever they were ever to conjure. Kiri waved with a large grin, holding what looked like alcoholic bubble tea.
Deciding that she should understand what exactly this was that humans liked so much, the dragon delicately walked (still with her human illusion up) over to the drink table, looking to see if there was a decent sized cask that she could lap up some mead from.
