thank you for this wonderful prompt slothy, obviously this is an IT wolfstarbucks AU!

The story is told in alternating chapters from James POV and Remus/Sirius POV

Sirius and Remus are fighting constantly, Sirius has so many ideas for how they should live their lives and Remus wants them too, in theory, but he just finds it really hard to change and this creates a lot of tension between them. Remus feels himself becoming obsolete and constantly fears that James prefers Sirius over him.

James loves his computer so much. He has had Windows 10 for ages and he loves it, but he feels ready for something new, he starts reading about how to install Linux and gets more and more into it, getting ready to deinstall Windows 10 and finally make the switch to Linux - it's just so much sexier to him. But he still feels so much fondness towards Windows 10 too, he really finds it so hard to make that decision, he wishes he had the option to just have both running smoothly on his PC. He slowly overcomes his struggles and finally installs Linux but makes sure he has one of those programs that lets you run Windows within Linux, so he can still have his beloved Windows 10 too.

As you read the fic it becomes obvious that Remus is Windows 10 and Sirius is Linux. Remus has a really sad chapter while James has deinstalled him and only has Sirius/Linux, so the fic reaches its climax when he finally clicks "open windows" in the last chapter and they're all reunited again after lots and lots of will they-won't they angst!
