“You know what else sounds fun? Stabbing myself in the face with this fork.” Daniel huffed out, rolling his eyes at the other’s ‘suggestion’. It wasn’t that he was annoyed at the other but just the idea alone of hanging out with their friend...well it wasn’t pleasing. Daniel and their friend never got along. It wasn’t that he didn’t attempt (he really did try hard enough to), it was that their friend seemed to have it out for him. Yet, the other always wanted to try to get them to hang out. “Why would they want me there anyways?”

“I don’t know why you’re so upset. It’s not like we were serious. I told you I didn’t want a relationship.” Daniel was being cruel but he could stop the words from falling from his mouth.  “If you ended up falling for me, that’s on you. Not me. I didn’t force your hand or do anything to make you have feelings. What we had was sex. Maybe I'd go as far as saying we were friends with benefits. But nothing more.”

“Oh come on, it is really not that serious.” Daniel said with an unreadable look on his face. “I think you’re taking it the wrong way and blowing it out of proportion. But that’s just my opinion.”

“It’s very cute that’s you’re trying to intimidate me.” Daniel laughed as the other pressed his finger against his chest. “You do not scare me...”

“Look, I’ll just go, okay?” Daniel had such high hopes for tonight. For once he’s actually gotten out of the house, he’s gone to a friend’s house, to a party! Daniel Yost, perpetually anxious, is at a party. And it’s awful.

“Your friends think I’m weird, I’m not having fun, you’re uncomfortable...” His gaze has dropped to the other’s shoes. His own are shuffling nervously. “I’ll go and you can all talk about how much I s u c k and then I’ll come back tomorrow for the dish I brought the pasta in.” Maybe that had been his first mistake, bringing pesto to a party with teenagers.
