This is a work-related thought experiment, based on the concept of a low-cost, low-tech indoor plant growth solution with a semi-controlled environment (i.e. consistent light and wind outputs on programmed daily schedule).
The body is made from my favorite new material (you guessed it) coroplast. Assembled with laser cut press-fits and hot glue. LED lights from Amazon.
I guarantee no one has ever designed a plant growth solution quite like this. But, if they have, prove me wrong.

SPEAKING OF COROPLAST.
This is one of the open-source projects from the MIT Media Lab that I can talk about. These coroplast planters are prototype germinators that will eventually accompany OpenAg’s PFC EDUs (Personal Food Computers).
My design is intended to be more accessible for kids to build and innovate with. It also eliminates the risk of plant death since the kids would grow their own plants from seeds (currently my lab delivers the plants to local schools that have received PFCs, putting the plants at risk).
I’m just really jazzed about designing with a fun, laser-cuttable material that I can tune to assemble with press fits and little else.
