Me, myself and I on the final go of Zippys Traverse V8/7B as the sun waves its daily goodbye to Stanage. So glad to get this line done. I kept dabbing on a the swing out move before campusing up to the juggy flake. No idea how people above 6 foot do this line without excavating the plantation. Finally on this go I managed to keep my feet up and topped it out in near darkness. 

I think at the top of this problem was the moment I realised all the training is paying off. Having plateaued at V6/7A for about 5 years it’s great to be finally start ticking off harder and harder lines, I have set myself the goal of V11/8A outdoors in a year. Having only done 3 different V9/7C′s (and an 8A on the moonboard) it won’t be easy, but I’m not climbing for the easy life.

Will on the ungradable Deliverance over at Stanage a couple of weeks ago. Such a great looking line, pretty polished but such a great looking line that it’s worth the pinging feet.

Got super close on it but I just couldn’t trust the dyno, I think when I tried it I was three days on so my skin was just awful. Either way, excuses included I need to get back on this sometime soon, finish it off before it becomes an Ice Rink.

Will on ‘Old King Cascade V8/f7B’ at Froggatt Edge sending his hardest grade today it premium night time conditions. The send went down pretty smooth for the both of us, maybe its all the training we’ve been doing but we seem to be climbing through the grades again.

Such a lovely little boulder, nearly leaning over into the brook. The sound of the close waterfall and wind shaking the trees really gives you that peaceful escape. I remember I saw this prow on a YouTube video when I was a bit younger and thought how impossible it looked, it’s nice to be able to do something with ease after it looked so difficult for so long.

Will on ‘Help the Young V7/7A+’ at Stanage Plantation, he got dead close to finishing this off but pinging feet and constant showers made sending a real mission. Good amounts of wind whipping through the hills allowed for some fast drying rock, but not fast enough to jump on Deliverance after he called it on this... plus the bloody tips doesn’t help.

Need to get back on that Stanage grit soon. So many projects but never enough sunlight, maybe I should just become one of those mad people who wake up at 5am. 

It sounds like Luke came second in the series at the end sadly as the BMC removed the Scotland comp. It’s a shame for Luke as it was a waste of money and time to fly up to Scotland for them to say it no longer counts but from the sound of things he’s over the moon with how he’s performed and the kind words people shared with him. With the experience that competitions and the people he’s met, he’s even more motivated than ever to keep working hard, so a huge thank you to everyone for that.

James Metzger on ‘Green Traverse V6/f7A’ at Stanage a few weeks ago, he stuck that move a few times but doing it in sequence is the real struggle. Even after it’s still quite easy to drop, seen a few people celebrate a bit too early on the final holds.

We managed to jump over to The Roaches today with the great weather. It was as rammed as if it was a bank holiday but the grit was calling. Jumped on ‘Tetris V9/f7C’ but it felt a bit greasy as it’d been baking in that Autumn sun all day. Didn’t stop Will from finishing off ‘Trust V6/f7A’ though in the most casual ascent I’ve seen! A few pings here and there but after trying it about 3 years ago he seemed dead chuffed to finally top it out.

Will climbing to the heavens on Tryfan the other day. With all the lovely weather we’ve been having its a damn shame we haven’t been out as much as we’d like but we’re getting on. 

Training is going great, we’ve renamed Tuesday to Bruiseday as it makes the ceremony of getting physically destroyed once a week seem more bearable- Some pictures to come.
