One simple everyday material offers so many options for play and creation. These little cups, which were new to the boys, have been turned into castles and skyscrapers, blown down with great excitement, and picked up over and over again. They worked very carefully individually and as a team. They laughed and worked through frustration. Their play inspired new ideas.
Wild & Free posted a quote today that I just love: “All children respond to an abundance of free time with ideas, plans, imagination, playing. They solve problems, think, grow. Children respond to life by living. They need this time to grow. Education is an atmosphere, a discipline, a life.” -Susan Schaeffer Macaulay
