Intro to Video
Video Final
Water Shadow
1. Abstract
My interest in ‘water shadows’ started when I did an abstraction project of an interview I did. The next project was influenced by the project, which explored more in depth of the relationship between the water, container, the sun, and the reflection, versus the body, water inside the body, and artificial light. (Link in the source section) I wanted to continue this exploration and create a video based on an installation and a narrative. Through this project, I would like to explore my interest in this specific topic of water shadows, and continue my attempt to explore people’s reaction to their shadows changing.
2. Procedure
I would start off by creating a short narrative about a subject. The narrative would be about my attraction to water shadows. Then, I would have the subject interact in the space of the installation. The installation would consist of a live keying system (camera connected to a program that would key through the video mixer the water shadow into the shadow of the subject as shown in the Video Is project) I would want to capture the shadow itself and the reaction of the subject interacting with the shadow. I also want to add an element where there are hanging bowls of water, and people can play with it to make different water shadows on the bottom.
3. Schedule
Week 1- Develop a narrative /find subject to act as myself. Create more library of footages of water shadows and explore more ways to create interesting types of shadows. Record narrative once it’s done. Take photographs of water shadows.
Buy Glass Bowls
Week 2- Install the project and record subject+ others who may want to try interacting with the project. Take photographs of water shadows. Take footages of subject regarding the narrative with the water shadows.
Week 3- Compile/final edit everything together regarding the narrative.
4. Outcome
I want this video to be a piece that can stand alone, but also be exhibited with the other projects I’ve done regarding water shadows. I feel like this could be my final step in my exploration with water shadows in its relationship to people.
This project could also be installed with the installations and the video as one ‘set’.

c. Brief Narrative: The general story of the video will be of a girl who is followed by a light source. This girl is obsessed with the water shadow, and the light is always following the girl. As this relationship continues, the girl finds these water shadows to be slowly becoming a part of her.
