BACKGROUND

There was a solemnity to you that was unmatched by the rest of your family. You were not bright and effervescent, you were not outgoing; you were instead quiet and you were observant. No one ever told you these were bad things to be. You still could laugh, you still could take a joke. You were part Weasley, after all. People mentioned how alike you were to your father (this was something that never really went away) – the both of you were old souls, selfless, with a strong desire to prove yourselves. You never heard anyone compare you to Ginny. Still, your parents proved their love for you time and time over, especially after your sorting into Slytherin. What did that mean? A Potter in Slytherin? You wondered for some time, but it became clear you would never eschew the things your house valued. You were determined, and ambitious. You protected your own. You smiled at your cousins and siblings in the hall, you stood behind the younger members of the house when they needed someone. These were things that mattered, not the stigma and the whispered hisses that came with recollection of alumni past. Years went by, and the questioning of your name and house faded. You blossomed, you grew into yourself. You had a knack for potions, a skill for hexes. Your mind never stopped racing. You questioned things that had been long since forgotten, your curiosity got the best of you at times. You did never grow out of your solemness.

Your first friends, your forever friends. It is no unbelievable thing to say that fate had smiled upon you when it came to them. Your youth was spent running ‘round with them, laughing and carefree. James always made you step out of your comfort zone, and in turn you were the one who held Lily’s hand when she was scared. Even now, you don’t know what you would do without them. You each live your own lives, but you still have time for each other. James meets you for lunch in Hogsmeade, and Lily smuggles you into the Gryffindor common room when backs are turned. They make you believe that blood is thicker than water.

You cannot be anything but thankful for the endless amount of people who are constant presences in your life. Though you are more reserved than nearly all of them, they always manage to bring a smile to your face, and they make sure you never feel alone. You’ve always been grateful for Lucy – the idea of a Potter in Slytherin was unthinkable, but then moments later they joined you in the house of silver and green. Hugo and Louis are usually the cause of your stress ( an enchanted skateboard – what were they thinking? ), but you know their hearts are in the right places. Rose, Fred, Dom, the entire lot – you might not see them all as much as you’d like, but you know they’re only ever an owl away.

Rose Granger-Weasley & Scorpius Malfoy » best friends.

From the very beginning, the three of you were thick as thieves. You and Rose had found a compartment on the train, and had just begun to settle in when the door opened once more – it was a surprise to see the Malfoy heir. They spoke softly, asking politely if they could join you, and sat down at the opposite side of the compartment. By the time the train reached the Hogwarts, however, it felt like you had known each other for years from the way you cracked jokes and teased one another. You still spend nearly all of your time with them, even now. You’re the one who convinces them to get their work finished, and they make sure you’re not so tightly wound. “Work hard,” you say. “Play hard,” they finish.

Rohan Avery » made uneasy by.

You could never live being James’ or Lily’s shadow, yet you watch as Rohan lingers behind their sister, echoing her words and saying little else. It has been seven years that you’ve shared a house and living quarters, but you could hardly fathom a guess at what they want to do with their life or even what they do in their free time. They have never reached out to you until now, and it was a shock when they asked if you wanted to study with them. It was with hesitancy you said yes, but you would be a liar to admit you weren’t curious to see what they were like on their own without Anina. They were more inquisitive than you would have guessed, and they have a wry sense of humor that rivals your own. Still, they seem withdrawn, and speak mostly when prompted. It is odd, you can’t deny that. The other Avery still scares you – something you would never say aloud – but you suppose Rohan would be alright, if only you were to get to know them better.

Louis Weasley is a sixteen year old ⅛ veela wizard who attends Hogwarts. They were sorted into Hufflepuff.

BACKGROUND

It is a strange thing, to be a fighter and a dreamer. To have this sense of wonder in the world and want to keep it that way. You always had that childlike fascination with the magic of the world you grew up in, even as you heard tales of when the world was a dangerous place. You grew up in a loving household, some might even go as far as to call it perfect. You are more thankful for that than you can ever admit. You know that not everyone is as lucky as you have been. You went to Hogwarts behind your sisters, fully ready to be a part of the world they told you stories from. It did not disappoint. You found yourself there, a more grown-up version of the naive child you had once been. But still, you saw the good in the world. You have always seen things as they are, sometimes terrible and awful. But you see them as they could be with the right amount of fight. You are determined to make the world a better place than it was when you entered it. Your parents grew up in a time of war as did their parents before them. You’ll be damned before you see the children of your generation or any future generations have that same fate.

Victoire & Dominique Weasley » older sisters.

Having Victoire & Dominique as your elder sisters was a blessing and a curse. You were destined to follow after two bright witches with their flames burning bright. It was lucky you were able to keep up in the areas that mattered and that you didn’t care in the areas you fell behind. You were close to them when you were younger, especially with Dominique. But you each found your own lives. Or rather, you and Victoire did leaving Dominique wondering what happened. Vic barely speaks to the family now, and you're far too busy with you own friends to spend time with your other sister. And you can’t deny the regret this fills you with, though you know that one day you will be closer than ever. 

The Potter-Weasley Clan » extended family.

You admit, you may have largely ignored most of your cousins for shenanigans with Hugo, but that doesn’t mean you love them any less. Though you’d love to think you’re close with James, you know that they’re more concerned with quidditch and their hair. But nevertheless, you have always looked up to them. Lucy sort of scares you, but in a good way. The kind of way that lets you know that the witch would kill anyone who hurt your family. Either way, you know you’re lucky to have a family like yours even if they are a lot to live up to.

Hugo Granger-Weasley » bros.

Something clicked with you and Hugo from childhood. Every time the two of you would get together, you’d find some way to cause chaos. Neither of you were particularly mischievous on your own, but together, there was always something going on. Some might have said you were like your uncles, but you knew the two of you would never rival Fred and George. To say Hugo is your best friend is a complete understatement. If you didn’t know better, you’d say they were your other half. The two of you bring out the absolute best (and in other’s opinions, the worst) in each other. But that has never meant a thing to you because you know that Hugo will always have your back just like you’ll always have theirs. 

Cristian Fortescue » partners in crime.

You met Cristian through Teddy, not expecting to gain another friend. They were shy, much more reserved than anyone you really hung out with. But you weren’t going to settle for letting them sit int he shadows while everyone else had fun around them. Once you got the older wizard to start coming out of their shell, you began inviting them places with you and Hugo, creating a trio that balanced each other out well.

Hugo Granger-Weasley is a sixteen year old half-blood wizard who attends Hogwarts. They were sorted into Ravenclaw.

BACKGROUND

You were like your mother in the way that you lost yourself in books. With a blanket wrapped around your shoulders, you would curl up in armchair,  and not move until the next day’s sun began to shine through your window. Unlike her, though, it was never knowledge you sought. It was escape. You loved the idea of being in a world that wasn’t yours. It wasn’t that you were unhappy, or discontent with the life you were given, you had just always been the sort to seek more than you were provided with. Your eyes searched for worlds on stars when you looked up towards the sky, and your heart jumped at the possibility of adventure any time something new and exciting occurred. Your time at Hogwarts has been spent wandering the halls and the staircases ( an illusive map still isn’t in your possession, much to your chagrin ) and all too often you find yourself lying on the quidditch pitch, watching your classmates zoom above your head. With a dreamy gaze and a tendency to need to be called back down to reality, it is no surprise that people whisper your name when your back is turned. They say your head is in the sky, that you have a brain and you just don’t use it. You have never understood why they think their words will get under your skin.

Rose has never been a stranger to you despite how different the two of you are. They come to you when they need a break from their stressors, when they just want the sight of a familiar face, and you go to them when you need help looking at something with a more serious head. They’re your polar opposite, but that has never stopped you from getting along. They might not understand your desire to keep your head in the clouds, and you’re not sure why they believe it’s up to them to change the world.

McGonagall near threw a fit when she had seen that you and Louis enchanted a skateboard to fly. It’s a miracle she didn’t contact your grandpa Weasley, in all honesty – the echoes of the last howler from grandma Molly still reverberate in your ears. It was all in good fun, though – everything you did with Louis was. You just wanted to see what you could do, what you were capable of – if anyone challenged you, it was Louis.

Lysander Scamander » former housemates.

When they introduced you to their grandfather, the Newt Scamander, you nearly combusted right there. It was an amazing experience, and you could never thank Lysander enough – if anything, it solidified your friendship even more. Their dreamlike focus on plants and animals was near similar to how you lived your life every day. Cool, calm, and collected. You’d admire their passion, their drive. You almost wish you had a singular focus like them.

Anina Avery is a seventeen year old pure-blood witch who attends Hogwarts. They were sorted into Slytherin.

BACKGROUND

Before you went to sleep at night, your mother would tell you how you were her Fury-kissed girl. She spoke of how the fire in your eyes would become something to be reckoned with, and how you would bring glory to the Avery name once more. You never doubted her. Why should you? She walked with her head raised high, even though the weight of the world was on her shoulders, and you knew that you would meet all of her expectations and prove to her your value. Behind you stood your twin. They supported you, your right-hand man. The pair of you were inseparable -- you knew that. Everyone knew that. They were one of the few people who you could speak your mind to. They fanned the sparks you spoke; they agreed and never questioned. It would be the pair of you who would change the world. It would take time, though, and that is what bothers you the most. You want to see the world change now. Whether it becomes something great or if it ends up burning underneath your feet, you are impatient to see the future come to fruition.

You never needed friends. You never cared for the idle chatter that so often filled the corridors of Hogwarts. Where would distractions get you? Nowhere. You had Rohan -- your twin, your ally. You appreciate their faith in you. You appreciate how they are there for you always.

Why were there so many unworthy people sorted into Slytherin your year? First, the Potter, then this Weasley. For the longest time, you ignored them both, your expression turning into a sneer as you snubbed them both in class and in the common room. You never had any qualm with ignoring them. Growing up, though, you’ve realized you’re not so unlike Lucy. You would never vocalize this thought, but you see a sliver of resemblance when you look towards them. Ambitious. Wanting. Their goals may be different than yours, but you appreciate the strength.

Albus Potter » the mark.

You would have thought your mother had won the lottery when she found out the middle Potter child had been sorted into Slytherin. She made such a big deal out of it, but you were not as enthused. They were quiet, and had they not been friends with Rose and Scorpius, you would have thought them dull. For years, you spoke to them only when necessary, otherwise you ignored them. Recently, though, you have grown to wonder about the fact they never spoke as openly about the world around them as did their family. What went on in their head? You knew they didn't like you, but no one disliked Rohan -- no one knew him well enough to. Soon enough, after prodding your brother into befriending them, you had a steady stream of information on the Potter. You know more about Albus than they you, more than you ever cared to, but you still want to know more. There must be skeletons in their closet, right?

Brionna Zabini » family history.

Their mother was a black widow, and it was likely they would turn out the same way -- or so your mother liked to whisper in your ear. You never talked to them unless they spoke first. They came from a good family, they had good blood, yes -- but you didn’t want a terrible reputation to rub off on you.
