Today we honor all of our Military Spouses! Those of our transgender service members, like Captain Peace's wife, Debbie, not only manage all of life's moving parts; children and their sports activities, doctors appointments, etc., TDY, late nights, early mornings, but they also live knowing that their family is not included in military life equally to their partner's cisgender peers. Debbie's wife says, "To manage all of that is an incredible feat. To love as much as she does is more than just sweet. It takes a special heart. I am immensely proud of her." Thank you Rhys Harper for this portrait. Friends, this was taken on Altus Air Force Base when Rhys, Laila, Logan and I were kicking back after filming Logan's return from Afghanistan. We had just shot footage for Transgender, at War and in Love (www.bitly.com/loganandlaila). That night Logan gave just me the flag I'm holding along with a certificate. Jesse and he flew this flag in my name during their deployment.
