laxus hummed and offered a short, polite (he hoped, he has been told he comes across rather....boorish) nod to yukino. he’s never had a one-on-one conversation with her before but well, it would probably be even more awkward to wait in silence.

1. elsa doesn’t like fighting , like AT ALL , but she will engage in it if it’s necessary for a job , or to defend herself . meeting characters from guilds like fairy tail where fights are very common , even ( especially ) amongst friends really confuses her .
2. her combat style is basically - try to incapacitate them / prevent them from attacking her / get them away from her without killing them . try it in as many different ways at possible , and then will lash out in anger or frustration . she’s still more of an offensive person than defensive ( i.e. try and freeze them before they can even get a shot off ) but she doesn’t like aiming to hurt people , and will only do it when pushed .
3. elsa doesn’t want to settle into a guild , despite the benefits . she could , potentially , be persuaded should she have a really close relationship with one , or more , people from a guild and she was invited by them . it’s not really in her plan , though .
4. when she first ran away , her parents sent mages to retrieve her and she defended herself . they aren’t dead , but were injured badly enough that her parents decided not to send any more . she carries the guilt of this for a long time .
5. a-la baby mirajane , elsa wears a cloak as well as her trademark gloves . when she takes it off , that’s when you know she trusts you . if she’s not wearing her gloves around you ? she trusts you with her life .

Disappointment was a heavy cloak upon her, pressing on her shoulders and tangling her limbs. It wrapped around her heart and seemed to pull it downwards, stealing the hope from her chest and dragging her focus from the book she and Yukino had just searched through.
“I thought…I really thought there would be-“ her throat tightened up and she had to clear it, sighing and raising a hand to rub her face, “- something in here about key forging...”
After weeks of searching for the book and finally locating it, and long hours translating, the only thing that had kept her energised was the hope that the knowledge she had been hunting for was contained within the ancient pages. To now have that hope extinguished left her drained as nothing else could.
She closed her eyes against the burning that started within them, the tears that wanted to appear. Maybe she would never find what she was looking for. Maybe it was lost forever, and she would never be able to recreate Aquarius’ key…
A soft embrace came around her and had her opening her eyes, though she didn’t need to see the familiar snowy locks to know who was hugging her. She slowly wrapped her arms around Yukino, heart cracking at the sympathy and comfort offered. Closing her eyes once more, Lucy allowed herself to hide against the other woman’s shoulder, taking a few deep breaths in the attempt to pull herself together.
What was she getting so upset for anyway? She had Yukino with her and they would find more leads and learn even more about celestial magic along the way, right?
“Thank you, Yukino…” she said softly, though she wasn’t quite ready to let go of her yet, “I really appreciate your help, I’m sorry this one didn’t work out…”

01. arania is the non-judgmental mum friend who always has tissues and chewing gum somewhere on her person and who offers to be the designated driver any time a group of people go out to drink in town. she is also a brilliant chef, admitting stress baker and successful plant mum which makes her the go-to for anyone who needs someone skilled to bake a birthday cake for their friend as arania’s kitchen services can be bought.
02. she is openmindedly religious, and first got interested in the subject of her major, history, because the church in her hometown in midi had an interesting history as it had been built from a stable. do not ask her about it unless you have several hours to spare, the church has a very interesting past and she has written papers about it in school.
03. some might wonder why someone who is as interested in history wound up at freesia university in the first place, and the answer is: arania has come because she thinks it is all incredibly interesting. the past of the campus and the, well, unexplained accidents piqued her curiosity and she had to see it for herself.
04. another reason is that the university has a rather famous competitive gymnastics team and she wanted to grow in her sport as well as in her academics and thus, this further tipped the scales in FU’s favour.
05. her roommate recently left the university to study elsewhere ( supposedly, because a ghost spooked her pretty badly ), and so arania is currently alone in their old suite, but she is supposed to get a new roommate sometime soon. in the meantime, she tries to make sure that she does not get too used to having the shower all to herself.

1. laxus’ first year, he was a music major but on the musical engineer track. he took a bio course for the science credit and then became wayyyy more invested and changed majors in his second year. still can play the guitar though.
2. he prefers doing the lab stuff than writing the lab reports. however he does break the stereotype of stem majors not knowing how to write because he’s a really good essay and research writer thanks to his early training in high school to do just that.
3. also the same for any verse where i write laxus: he is bisexual. his coming out was him in high school realizing he crushed on one of his track team members and then going home and immediately informing his dad and his dead ghost mom. and his grandmother on the first visit to her over the weekend. all are very supportive.
4. one time during Finals Season, his headphones broke and he maybe definitely cried about it for at least an hour before he got replacements. good replacements, too, but he misses that pair still.
5. two years ago, ivan moved out of the family house they shared as a three person family to a new one with more room for a garden. laxus was against it, because he thought his mother would be forced to stay there alone but it turned out that was not the case. apparently, she’s more attached to wherever ivan is.

01. freesia university was not sherry’s first choice --- or even her third. she wanted to attend the university of helianthe, the same university where her parents used to teach before their death when she was seven, but there were problems with the application process. ultimately, fu offered the best scholarships and --- if one ignores the ghosts and the feeling of wrongness that accompanies them --- it has a pretty campus. sherry is still working on the ignoring the wrongness part.
02. in her first two semesters, she lived in academic rise, the very obviously haunted dormitory and she could barely sleep because some ( very rude ) ghosts would use her room for meetings. for her third semester, she moved heaven and hell to move to another, slightly less haunted dorm and she has been sleeping better.
03. she is an engineering student who would like to work in robotics one day, and she is on the university’s volleyball and track teams.
04. for the most part, she is surprisingly popular with her fellow students. ( she is the one who is surprised by that. ) she often spends time with others, both for purposes of studying and for socialising.
05. if she is not in her dormitory or in class, she can be found in the library, in the gym, out on the campus during her daily runs. she is easily recognised by the fact that she is really tall and has bright pink hair.

01. fairly recently, she caused a massive disturbance on campus by hijacking all speakers to play their song on her anniversary with alexius. the faculty is still trying to work out how this could happen, but they have a hard time tracking down the culprit.
02. she has had the front row seat to several historical events during her time as a ghost --- for example, she was sitting in the lecture that would be solomon acilio’s last one, hearing his final words . . . and she has teased the other ghost about it on several occasions since. who can blame her? it was dramatic!
03. she has a soft spot for members of the swimming team ( they are her teammates, in a strange way ), musically inclined students and anyone who has an interest in marine life.
04. she has a penchant for avoiding certain places at certain times, and sometimes, she cannot be found for several days . . . which has caused concern that she might have just moved on at several occasions.
05. over the years, there have always been students ( and faculty members, too ) who have been very curious about how she died and who thought it easiest to simply ask her, but as forthcoming as thalassa is about the early days of the university, this is not something she has ever shared.
