leo does not want to be here, has probably never wanted to be anywhere less in his adult life but here he was in a suit and tie and standing awkwardly next to the table of food and pretending like he was waiting for someone. that was a habit he’d developed as a kid, if you looked like you were just waiting for a friend than typically people leave you alone, but it can only work for so long before it starts attracting more attention and people feeling sorry for you. so he’ll have to move soon, probably find a seat since it looked like there was going to be some presentation. why he had to sit through the slideshow about the new fire stations he didn’t know considering he’d helped design them and knew every inch of the buildings.
grabbing another drink he moved through the crowd, careful to avoid physical contact with the many people around him as he finds his way to a table near the back. he’s just starting to relax, a difficult tasks for them, when a body approaches and at first he doesn’t look up, pulling out his phone to busy himself texting and hope he’s left alone. “sorry, uh, were you sitting here? i can find another table?”
