Wait so you won't be writing anymore kevedd??
I’m unsure if I would use the term ‘anymore’ but I have no plans for upcoming kevedd fics other than Rainy Daze and Ether which is based off of Opticleech's incubus!kevedd.
The thing is, I have been writing for the kevedd community for almost a year now (if I have counted correctly) and in that time span, I have written [seven fics] when I had originally only planned for one. While Kevin and Edd will always be my unsinkable ship, I’m afraid I’m running out of inspiration and wish to move on to other things.
It pains me to say that as I have met so many wonderful people that I consider essentially family. While I don’t know everyone who is in this community, I have had the pleasure of speaking to a great many of them—or at least seeing their art and fanfics—and I have been blown away by the talent, compassion, and tenacity.
So, to say, ‘anymore’ would be a bit of an extreme for me. If the inspiration strikes, I am happy to write but, as of late, it has not and I want to venture out with other fandoms, more OCs and develop characters that I hope all of you will love as much as myself.
So, as [A Daze of Ailey] is finishing up on Sunday, I hope all of you will join me as I post Rainy Daze and then Ether as my last two planned kevedd fics.
Shifting Strange
A oneshot in dedication to my dear friend Kaiba.
Summary: A fox, who may take the form of a human by moonlight, has fallen in love with a farmer.
He possessed a name but would not speak it.
To know a name was a powerful thing.
It implied ownership.
He belonged to no one.
His paws left imprints on the dirt but he did not belong to the dirt. The wind ruffled the orange of his coat but the wind was not his master. His fox ears, curved high and wide, took in the sounds of the woods around him but the trees, the birds, the snapping of twigs and the ruffling of foliage did not command him.
He belonged to no one.
But, as the sun sank low to give rise to darkness and stars, he went upon a familiar path. His black paws not so much walking as they did prance, his nose pointed with determination that rode down his spine to the tip of his tail. Night-time was a gift to this fox.
It had been three months since he had saved the Fairy Queen’s daughter. The rescue had not been his intention. He had stumbled upon the rat crawling out of a log and had killed the vermin in hopes of a quick meal. All-the-while not knowing that, within its belly the young princess sat curled and dirty. To thank him for her daughter’s return, the Fairy Queen had offered to grant him one wish.
It hadn’t taken him long to consider.
The farmer that had moved into the clearing had brown hair, a strong back, and lived alone. He was young with only three chickens, two pigs, and a cow to his name. His house was humble with thatch roof and stone stoop. The fox had watched him build it. Had noted the mornings that he fed his chicken and hoed his vegetable patch. The fox would sit on the edge of the woods, hidden amidst the brush, and contemplate eating the chickens.
The fox never did.
His attention, instead, went to a young face, brown hair, and a strong back.
When the Fairy Queen, in all her power, had asked what the fox desired, it hadn’t thought long.
It replied promptly.
But wishes from fae are tricks in disguise and only would it be granted by moonlight. No word could he speak save his name. If a name was spoken, he would be bound and could no longer claim freedom.
The fox was not sure if this was a wish or a curse.
But, as the sun had sank and the moon had risen, he had wandered to the farmer’s house. The man had opened the door to see a man, tall and lean, clad in fox fur and--being kind--had let him in. The farmer had asked a name and a reason but the fox in human form and unable to answer, offered neither. Instead, he allowed the fur to slip from his body, to land at his feet, and had stood bare and untamed before the other. That night and the nights after, the farmer would embrace him only to watch him rise, swaddle in fox fur, and leave before the morning’s light.
They continued like this for night’s unnumbered. The farmer no longer asked a reason. Upon hearing the knocks in the dark, he would go to his door to mash his lips with one’s that never uttered a sound. His hands would slide fox fur from shoulders to caress bare skin. Hands made dirty for reasons unknown to him would touch back. Calloused feet stained black from wooded ground would follow him to the bed and they would entangle. The farmer’s tongue would mark trails on a neck that tasted of sweat and honeysuckle. The fox’s hands would press against a strong back to feel muscles move like wings under skin.
Upon finishing, their bodies rising and falling with their labored breath, the fox would nuzzle into a chest, fingers combing through curled hair and its nose bringing in the scent of musk, oak, and the saltiness of sweat.
“Who are you?” the farmer would plead. “What is your name?”
The fox would say nothing.
“Stay with me. Do not leave by morning. We can make a life together.”
The fox uttered not a word.
The farmer would sleep and the other would move away to gather his fur and slip out a door. By morning’s light, he would return to his form to sit amidst the brush and watch a farmer go about his chores.
It’s heart would pine and it would turn away to scavenge for food.
The dirt under its paws, the wind in its fur, the sound of woods, trees, birds, the snapping of twigs and the ruffle of foliage would not distract it from the ache that was the lack of its farmer.
But this night would be different.
This night he would answer his farmer’s plea.
This night he would speak his name to listening ears and be bound to a young face, brown hair, and a strong back.
Freedom could be sacrificed if it meant days spent like nights and lips to melt into.
As the fox approached the clearing that was the farm, it’s heart leapt in its tiny chest. It’s paws felt lighter, a smile on a muzzle widening as he awaited the transformation.
It did not come.
Assuming he was not close enough, the fox slid by the chicken coop to wait.
Nothing.
Casting worried eyes to the sky, its shifted strange.
There was no moonlight tonight.
The clouds, in response to an impending storm hung in the sky thick like a blanket. There were no stars or hint of moon to guide a transformation.
Tonight, there could be no embrace or utterance of a name.
In the shock of the fox’s realization, it did not feel the arrow pierce it’s side.
It jerked, stumbling over legs to hit the ground.
The sound of footsteps caused frightened eyes to look up into a young smiling face.
“My beloved is fond of foxes.” The farmer smiled as he picked up the creature by the scuff of its neck. “Your body will nourish him and I will add you to his coat so that I may keep him warm during his travels. Your life is a beautiful one, fox.”
And a muzzle opened and closed in desperation far too late.
He possessed a name but could not speak it.
Incubus!Kevedd AU: A Hungry Attachment
Title: A Hungry Attachment
Warnings: Just heavy language, and mostly vague mentions of sexual activity
This is just a one-shot inspired by Optic Leech's Incubus!EEnE AU and their brilliant art~ <3 Especially this piece right here
This story is set when the EEnE kids are older and in uni, and the location is New York, based on the AU. There isn't really Kevedd romance as much as just me playing around EEnE characters in Opti's Incubus AU ^_^" Only hints at the romances, really. KevEdd, Sarah/Jimmy, Rolf/Ed.
The chilly air was still, high up among the rooftops - a sort of untouchable peace that seemed separate from the bustle and noise down below. Perched on the highest ledge of one of the Silver Towers, a figure sat nonchalantly watching the lights spread out for miles around, blending into the skyline of New York City. His shadowy face was tilted ever so slightly in contemplation, and memories of elegant hands and an innocent, gap-toothed smile drifted across his mind.
A tinny beeping sound shook the motionless silhouette out of his reverie, and he raised one hand to glance at the dim red numbers flashing on the back of his wrist. The figure rose, and a mass of darkness unfurled on either side of him, before he stepped right over the parapet he had been seated on and pitched downwards face first.
Hell’s Kitchen never fucking sleeps, Kevin thought almost fondly as he soared upwards out of his brief plummet off the roof, regarding the busy scene beneath him. He had never quite been able to pinpoint why exactly he liked hanging around the place so much – other than the blindingly obvious first half of it’s name. His wide wings swept through the sky, the sinewy skin vibrating ever so slightly from the air pressure. He swooped lower as he neared his destination, not bothered about being spotted – he was invisible to most mortals anyway, unless he chose to show himself.
His destination was an apartment building on the edge of Central Park, and it didn’t take him long to reach it. Second highest floor, the large corner window with the glow of yellow light shining through the parting of navy blue curtains – Kevin was all too familiar with the sight. He hung suspended right outside this window, his wings beating against the air heavily; it was hardly ever closed, and tonight was no different.
Inside, a sleeping young man remained blissfully unaware of the unexpected visitor, his lanky frame draped over an armchair by the window. A book lay open on one of his thighs, having slipped out of his hand, and reading glasses barely hung onto the end of his nose. Kevin took it all in as he struggled to get through the window without hitting the delicate points of his folded wings or tail against the sharp ledge. Flexing his wings after finally landing on the bedroom floor, his eyes swept over the rhythmic rise and fall of the sweater vest-clad chest to the black sock hat stubbornly clinging onto dark hair. He grinned, moving closer to inspect the abandoned book. What a dork…he never can stay up too long past midnight.
Kevin ran his fingers down one side of the sleeping human’s face, and the response was immediate – the brunet shifted uncomfortably in his sleep, eyelashes fluttering a bit and expression changing from peaceful to one of mild agitation. The flame-haired incubus only grinned wider; he removed the reading glasses from Eddward’s face and tossed them onto the nearby bedside table, his thoughts turning to what he intended to do to his favourite human toy…
A loud series of banging on the front door of the apartment rang out, making Kevin jump and cuss internally. “EDD!” A muffled wail accompanied the knocking, and the figure on the armchair awoke, emerald eyes wide and arms flailing about before falling right off onto the carpeted floor. Eddward staggered upright, one hand gripping the book that had landed on the floor beside him, but his progress was soon impeded as he knocked into his bedside table and ended up falling again, this time on his bed. Kevin groaned and clutched at the huge horns protruding from his forehead in secondhand embarrassment.
“P-please refrain from shouting at this hour, I will be with you in a moment,” Edd called as loudly as he dared, crawling across his bed towards his bedroom door. The person outside must have heard him because the shouting stopped and the pounding was reduced to harried tapping and muffled mutterings of “Hurry up, Double D”. Kevin watched as Edd shot through the doorway clumsily without a single backwards glance, but before he could follow, he felt a tingling sensation along his tail that made him groan again.
“Well, well… lookit, Marie,” a heavy drawl greeted his ears, “look’s like Knuckle-head’s beaten ya to ‘em.”
Kevin growled as two familiar, freckled faces appeared at the doorway through which Edd had just exited. One was half-hidden by a mop of curly, dark red hair, the corners of the boisterous mouth pulled up in a grin. The other was set in a scowl, only one dark, heavily lidded eye visible as her dark blue fringe fell forward to hide its twin.
“What the fuck are you two doing here?”
“You wanna watch your language, Knuckle-head,” Lee spat at him. “S’not like you own the joint, ya know.” She gave him a stretched, mirthless grin before morphing through the wall back into the adjoining room, not bothering with the doorway. Marie leant against the door, eyeing Kevin calculatingly.
“You don’t own him either, you know,” she said suddenly, smiling innocently. Kevin ground his demonic teeth.
“Fuck off, Marie. Edd’s mine and you damn well know it-”
“Why doncha marry him then, asshole?” Marie smiled cunningly. “Edd doesn’t belong to anyone. Which means I’m gettin’ what I fuckin’ want.”
Kevin made a grabbing motion in the air, then stalked towards the succubus with the huge bat that had just materialized in his clawed hand. Marie straightened up, all pretence of civility gone and her uncovered eye going completely black as she bared her fangs and stretched her elongated claws.
“YOU DID WHAT!?”
Kevin paused and even Marie turned around to stare at the drama unfolding in the living room. The obsidian smoke in her eye retreated back into her iris and she shot one last heavy-lidded glare at Kevin before moving out. The former jock growled again in anger before tossing his bat aside to de-materialize and strode out the bedroom door.
He was met with a strange scene in Eddward’s living room: Lee, scarlet wings unfurled as she floated about near the ceiling, guffawing; Marie, who was now standing near the bookcase, a feral look of approval on her face, and a disgustingly human Eddy on the couch, cowering from the ill-aimed blows of Edd himself, who seemed agitated and determined to beat Eddy up with a rolled-up magazine. For the third time that night, he groaned; he was never going to get his nightly meal from Eddward now.
“Jeez, Double D! Cut it out!” Eddy hollered, finally grabbing the magazine and chucking it across the room. “It’s not like I-”
“How could you lose him, Eddy?” Edd looked absolutely beside himself, Kevin noted appreciatively. “How could you lose him when he’s drunk!? Alone at this hour, somewhere in the streets? It’s New York, he’s going to get arrested or mugged or murdered-”
Apparently the thought was too much for Edd as he let out a shuddering breath and sank onto the couch, clutching at his hat. Eddy, for his part, looked very much ashamed of himself, although there were suspicious red dots in his cheeks and an imbalance in his movements. Kevin rolled his eyes; Eddy was known to spend his Friday nights at bars and clubs, although he didn’t usually manage to convince the other “Ed”s to join him.
“But D-Double D… Ed’ll be okay,” Eddy tried valiantly, confirming Kevin’s suspicions on who they were fighting about. Ringed fingers combed through gelled hair and Eddy nervously played with his lip ring – what the most assertive Ed couldn’t have in terms of height (he was still half an inch shorter than the average guy his age), he made up for in style. “Nobody’s gonna murder him, he’s just a big oaf… and he doesn’t have any money to get mugged over, either-”
“We have to inform the proper authorities,” Edd got out, sitting up finally. “And Sarah-”
“I already told Sarah,” Eddy said, getting a disgruntled look on his face. “I stopped by Ed’s apartment first to see if he’d gone back, and the little loudmouth was still up… dunno why she was ever allowed to come visit him-”
“THAT’S NOT THE POINT, EDDY!”
“Well, I’m not gonna hang around for the rest of this shit,” Marie’s voice sounded disturbingly close to Kevin’s ear. He spun around, baring his teeth at her, but she just grinned lazily back at him. “Doesn’t look like Sockhead’s gonna get any sleep tonight,” she paused, “not that I was gonna let him get any, anyways.” She laughed at the look on Kevin’s face, then drifted through a wall into the night.
“Ee-yeahh,” Lee drawled, flying over to the wall Marie had vanished through, “Eddy ain’t gonna be feedin’ this mama tonight… gotta go try this new blondie I scouted earlier.” She grinned and Kevin refrained from rolling his eyes with difficulty. “I saw ‘em fall over a skateboard, he gets the nicest look around his mouth when he’s in pain.”
Turning back to the situation in the living room, the incubus noticed that both Edd and Eddy were shrugging on their coats, about to leave the apartment. Wondering if he should go look for someone else to feed off tonight, Kevin was about to leave the same way the two Kanker sisters had, before a tingling in his tail and a slight ethereal glow near the front door indicated the arrival of someone he had expected to see ages ago.
“Hey, Kev,” Nazz said as she floated over to the demon. “Really horrible, this, huh?”
Kevin nodded mutely as she jerked her head towards the two squabbling Eds who were leaving the apartment. She sighed, her eyes sadly surveying her irresponsible charge; Kevin would never understand how someone as cool as Nazz, even if she was an angel, could bother caring about Eddy, of all the human beings on the planet.
“Nazz,” the demon jerked his head at the “Ed”s. “Do you know where the third dork is?”
Sighing, Nazz shook back her short veil of shimmering blonde hair to regard Kevin with wide, tragic cerulean eyes. “Well, we should be able to pinpoint his location soon, and we’ll just have to let the humans know somehow. I’ve got Jimmy looking for him… after Eddy notified Sarah, she got her neighbors to help her search, and of course Jim-”
“Jimmy goes wherever Sarah goes,” Kevin cut in and finished for her exasperatedly. It was obvious from what little he saw of the overly sensitive angel that he had taken a strong liking to the redheaded human girl. In fact, Kevin suspected that Jimmy might be getting a little too… attached.
Angels.
“Think they’ll find him?” His voice was casual; it wasn’t like he particularly cared… unless whatever followed caused Eddward a few more sleepless nights.
Nazz nodded, but the action seemed contradicted by her chewing her thumbnail worriedly. She turned around to look at Kevin and smiled in a thin, half-hearted way.
“I should really go be with Eddy right now, Kev… I think he’s really beating himself up about this, more than he’s letting on…” She seemed too distracted to notice the sarcastic snort that escaped her demon friend. “In fact, he’s really sending me bad vibes right now… I gotta go make sure he doesn’t do anything stupid.”
Kevin sighed as Nazz already started drifting towards the main door the “Ed”s had long exited. “Sure, man, whatever you say…”
“See ya, Kev…”
With that, she was gone.
The tall, well-built demon let out a long breath as he slid down onto the couch his favourite human had vacated not too long ago. He never could understand how guardian angels could stand looking after humans - those pathetic, helpless creatures always seemed to be getting into trouble somehow. The only good that came out of them, as far as he was concerned – Kevin grinned evilly – was their never-ending supply of life energy.
Minutes ticked away as he sat on Edd’s couch, dreaming of defenseless, sleeping humans and how very sexually frustrated most of them were. However, the kind of humans who spent their lives with their nose buried in books, forfeiting any hope of a social life… now those were the best ones, although Kevin had never bothered with them before. He had found them boring, difficult to get through to… but once he had decided to go for the challenge, he had been met by a much richer reward than he had ever hoped of receiving.
Eddward’s strange clock chimed, it’s dull tones signaling two in the morning. Kevin grinned to himself humourlessly – time meant nothing to him anymore, although he did realize he had been sitting there for an hour. Getting off the couch, he stretched and shook out his wings – time to ditch the dork’s place and –
A pleasant, tingling sensation was all the warning he had before Nazz shot through one of the walls like a comet. Kevin opened his mouth to say hi before he realized that she wasn’t alone.
“Oh… hello there, Kevin,” Jimmy’s nervous voice, slightly high for an adolescent angel boy’s, rang out. He had slanted, pale blue eyes, hair that was practically white, and straight teeth that shone just as brightly – a fragile sort of beauty that nearly made Kevin want to snuff his angelic little light out.
He gave him a curt nod. “Jimmy.”
Jimmy shot Nazz a look before quickly announcing that he was going to go check on Sarah and disappearing. Nazz grinned at Kevin and he started to relax – even after so long, he found himself wondering at the unusual friendship they shared so easily, the strong truce between an angel and a demon.
“Guess what, dude? They found him at some greasy old diner,” she informed Kevin. “One that was still open at this time… the place was a bit seedy – Ed had passed out in a booth and nobody seemed to notice – but at least he’s okay, and his wallet’s intact too.”
“That idiot’s gotta be the luckiest guy in the world,” Kevin said, but he was internally pleased – he knew his buddy Rolf had formed a secret little attachment to the tallest Ed, if all the nights he spent with the oaf was any indication. He also knew that both Rolf and May – the third Kanker sister – were off with new victims that night, so maybe neither of them would even have to know about Ed’s little misadventure. Not that he cared about May, but Rolf would probably have been worried about Ed… and he hated to see Rolf worried. No demon should ever care that much.
He purposefully avoided the thought of Eddward.
“So then, where are they?” Kevin raised an eyebrow at Nazz, who seemed totally spaced out. She started, giggling slightly and flashing her teeth good-naturedly at him.
“They’re all over at Eddy’s place, just sort of chilling out for the night,” she said. “Eddy keeps sending me good vibes… he’s really relieved.” She smiled wider. “He’s even being really nice to Sarah… although I don’t think that’s having any effect.” She giggled again.
“Ugh, Nazz… stop connecting to him like that, it makes me wanna puke-”
“You know, I get the feeling Sarah is more aware of Jimmy’s presence than humans usually are,” Nazz said thoughtfully, not listening to Kevin. “I mean, she’s not even interested in people these days, all she does is sketch faces… especially ones that look like Jimmy…”
“That’s great, Nazz,” the incubus said sarcastically. “They can get married and have little angel-human hybrid children.”
Nazz flashed him a look of annoyance. “Kevin.”
“Sorry man,” he said, showcasing his fangs in a devious grin. “Hunger makes me grumpy, you know.”
A dark expression of disapproval passed over the angel’s face before she sighed. “Well, I’m gonna go watch over Eddy,” she paused as Kevin made a long-suffering face, before adding icily, “I’m sorry your dinner got cancelled tonight.”
Kevin stared at her. “Yeah, well… me too, angel dork.”
Nazz sighed again. “I’ll see ya around, Kev,” shaking her head, she stepped through the wall she came through and vanished – but not before Kevin caught the brilliant emergence of a pair of dazzling white wings from her back.
Turning away, Kevin stared unseeingly at the front door. Nazz had known he would still be waiting in Edd’s apartment; she had known that she would find him there. Thoughts of Rolf’s deepening passion for Ed, a single human victim, mingled with other thoughts in his head – Lee’s general opinion that only angels got caught up in certain humans, memories of Nazz’s smile and Jimmy’s nervous frowns of disapproval, and Marie’s quiet, seething anger.
All of them ended up in thoughts of Eddward.
For what he was sure was the hundredth time that night, far too unhealthy a habit for an incubus to be developing, he groaned. He wasn’t sure what was worse – a friendship with an angel who knew one of his best-kept secrets, or an attraction to a single human which was quickly becoming something more of an… affection.
Either way, Kevin figured he was screwed.
