Does anyone else think that the reason they made D-16/Megatron's eyes originally yellow is because the colour theory of light/RGB? With screens and mixing light, yellow isn't one of the primary colours. Yellow on screens is actually a mixture of red and green. So it's totally plausible for Megatron's eyes to go from yellow to red if they just.... removed the green light emissions.

Was anyone gonna tell me that the skybound tpb vol. 2 was out or was I supposed to find it on the library app myself?

Thoughts (and spoilers) below the cut!

Still super fun and Jorge Corona's art is just as fun and grungy as DWJ's (and Mike Spicer's colours and Rus Wooton's letters continue to impress).

I think to me the biggest strength of vol. 1 was that it had a really tight cast of characters that we were able to focus on AND that it was able to take its time to reflect on it's themes. It felt like a very intimate story in a way this second volume didn't. Maybe because we were seeing it through the eyes of Spike and Carly as aliens come to earth? Either way, the second volume has a faster pace and a larger cast which didn't resonate with me in the same way. and honestly that's ok! vol. 1 was a HIGH bar to live up to (it's hard to beat a book with TWO Eisner awards) and I think this is still a super fun ensemble story.

The characters they DO explore in a bit more depth though are super fun. Fascinated to see what they do with Elita-1 (she has an unexpected foil in Thundercracker that I'm interested to see what the story does with) Optimus imo is the star of this show, but Elita-1, Arcee are close behind and Carly, Spike, Beachcomber, Thundercracker, Astrotrain, and Soundwave have their moments.

Also ngl I can't believe that Hasbro is letting them kill off so many of their most popular characters. There's no way Starscream is gone for good, but Bumblebee AND Ratchet??? BOLD narrative move. I think it really works here, but it IS a bit of a bummer that two of my favs are dead right out of the gate haha

Anyways. if you're looking for a new book to read, the image transformers comics are worth definitely checking out!
