okay so!! here’s what i’m lifting from the show and incorporating into dimi’s portrayal:
— that dimitri is 200+ years old. i suspected this, actually, it’s something i’ve talked to z about at length; he’s probably been on and off ice, i don’t think he’s a stranger to prison, but most of it has been spent free, and whilst he’ll never have the social status of a meth he certainly has an age to rival some of them. in book canon, it’s said that dimitri was an interrogator during the corporate wars, which is something laurens bancroft says he lived through & implies happened a long time ago.
— the “personality frag” thing, which is show-only. the term doesn’t come up in the book, and dimitri is certainly not portrayed as being fragmented at all. however, again it’s kind of just stuff that tallies with what i’ve already written ... it goes with the idea that “every sleeve loses something, every copy of a copy of a copy (the original stack belonging to dimitri kadmin is long dead) and there’s degradation that goes with that, near inevitably”.
— the in-virtual “glitchiness” that comes with the frag. since in-show it seems to be triggered worse by stress (i’d say torturing someone for info on killing someone you care about is stressful, yea), i’m gonna say that it’s part of losing control of his own construct. however i’m also gonna say it only happens during extremely high stress situations, which limits it to a very narrow scope where he’d start to lose control like that
