‘ here, take my jacket. ’

Early morning sermons were always the coldest, and Faith’s dress didn’t exactly scream ‘warmth’.
Arms folded, the Siren had taken to rubbing her hands on her lap, leg bouncing gently in an attempt to create any sort of heat. Why hadn’t she just brought a jacket? She knew how cold it would be.
Jacob stood in the back of the chapel, as usual, keeping an eye on everything and bundled in a fur lined jacket that Faith wouldn’t have been surprised to learn he’d skinned himself. John sat to her right, looking irritated but still warmer than she was in his plane dotted overcoat.
Even Joseph at least had his shirt and jacket on.
Plans to find ways to remember bringing a jacket more often were silently dissolved as she felt the warmth of something soft drape over her shoulders.
“Here, take my jacket.”
Alex’s voice was little more than a whisper, (he’d learned not to interrupt sermons long ago), but he reached forward, snapping the top button of his own jacket into place around her neck.
Twisting quickly, she placed a fleeting kiss on his cheek.
“Thank you.”
