Nice dinner out (◍•ᴗ•◍)
Korra krew my beloved. Recently finished a rewatch for the billionth time. I miss them already.
How I be looking defending LOK (I genuinely love this show almost as much as ATLA I don’t get the hate 😭)
When I feel upset, I come to Tumblr and go through my list of liked posts.
I always feel better afterwards.
Nothing like a good ship art, text post, or just plain chaotic time.
To all the artists, textposters, and people with actually funny ideas, thank you so much for the countless times you've improved my mood.
Playing with some new brushes and poses with my favorite fellas
and so the ship will sink beneath the waves
Fandom: The Legend of Korra
Pairings: Asami Sato/Iroh II, Korra/Mako, Bolin/Opal
Rating: M
Notable Tags: Major Character Death
Summary: As a grand luxury liner carries Republic City's elite - and its forgotten masses - toward the South Pole, Asami Sato and Korra, privileged heiresses, General Iroh, a forgotten prince, and Mako, a working-class boxer and his exuberant brother Bolin, find their lives colliding across class lines and are each forced to reckon with the weight of expectation, the cost of freedom, and the lives being chosen for them - unaware that they are already aboard a ship bound for disaster.
Author’s Note: The sinking of the Titanic is a hyper-fixation of mine, and after a recently renewed interest in it, I've decided to write an AU about it that hopefully provides a realistic portrayal of what actually happened on the night of April 15, 1912.
This fic will be a blend of the 1997 film and the real event. Characters in the story are inspired by real passengers and characters from the film, though no Legend of Korra character is an exact overlay of any real passenger or movie character. I'm doing my best to integrate 1910s high society with Legend of Korra's worldbuilding, but in many places, the world will lean American/British.
And yes, the ship will sink. People will die. It will be tragic, just as the sinking was. Consider this your warning for what lies ahead.
Title is inspired by Taylor Swift's "my tears ricochet".
old friends <3
Ok hear me out: Legend of Korra canon AU where the whole Krew are different flavors of vigilante except for Bolin (because I just don't see that precious sunshine boy maintaining a secret identity for a nanosecond).
Mako: he's Daredevil without the law degree + fire powers. But he mostly just punches people. The second he and Bolin weren't dependent on the Triple Threats for food, shelter, and steady work he put on a mask and dedicated himself to wiping them out. Because there's no way in hell Mako had a good time as a fire bending prodigy trapped under the control of a violent yet lazy guy like Zolt. There's a good chance Mako was used as a human weapon when Bolin wasn't looking (and he probably put a lot of effort into downplaying Bolin's earth bending in front of the Threats so the same didn't happen to him). So the second they have income not tied to crime? Mako is dismantling the threats vigilante-style.
Asami: She's Batman. Like, she's Batman, right? This whole idea came to me because Asami would make a great Batman. A more emotionally mature Bruce Wayne? The world is Not Prepared.
Korra: Imagine a world where Korra wasn't allowed to pursue Justice. She'd immediately turn superhero. She's the Superman of Republic City. Her alter-ego is Beloved. Tenzin is Suspicious. Pema 110% Knows but thinks as long as she's being safe, crime-fighting is a healthy outlet for restless Avatars.
Bolin isn't a superhero but he is in the paper every other day as a "random citizen" helping out in some way. Lin would be halfway convinced he was a hero poorly hiding his secret identity but he's just so damn guileless she can't justify her suspicions. Which just makes her more suspicious.
Bonus: Ships!
Wuko: Mako isn't Wu's bodyguard but his alter-ego does keep saving Wu's life. Republic City PD is convinced the prince isn't in any danger at all and Raiko is overreacting. Wrong. Mako just keeps stopping the assassins.
Korrasami: Secret identities! Battle couple! Super team-ups! They meet in their civilian identities at some point and there's ~chemistry~ but Korra is the Avatar and in training and Asami is the head of Future Industries, how will they ever see each other? Cue their secret identities having a long-running flirtationship~
Bopal: idk how this would work given the setup I've described, but they give strong Lois Lane x Clark Kent vibes to me
