Richie swallowed, feeling a mix of emotions—confusion, gratitude, and a hint of disbelief. Max Jägerman, the guy who had made his life a living hell for years, was offering him comfort?
“Thanks,” Richie managed to say, his voice hoarse with emotion. “I appreciate it.”
Max nodded, a small, genuine smile tugging at his lips. “Hang in there, okay?”
With that, Max reached out and pulled Richie into a hug. Richie stiffened at first, surprised by the gesture, but then he felt himself relax into it. The weight of everything he had been feeling washed over him, and he began to cry softly, his shoulders shaking with the force of his emotions.
Max held him gently, offering silent support as Richie let himself be vulnerable. They stayed like that for a while, Max’s comforting presence helping Richie release the pent-up emotions he had been holding back for so long. The tears came freely now, soaking Max’s shoulder, but he didn’t pull away.
