2017 was a year of both good and bad. I learned to say no, and I cut the toxic people out of my life. I got my own apartment. I got accepted into university. I took Chinese for a semester, and I’m planning on continuing to do so throughout my degree. I joined AIESEC and UNYA and applied to volunteer in Romania this upcoming summer. I met and made friends with people from all over the world. I fell in love. Had my heart broken and found love again. I learned that I can’t always control the outcome of things and that I need to let them happen naturally. I learned to open up, to trust, and to have that trust be broken, and at the end of the day, it’s what makes me stronger.
Each person I met this year has taught me an important lesson, and for that I’m thankful. I’m so excited for 2018 because it’s going to be the year I start focusing on making myself happy instead of always putting everyone else first. I’ll be traveling more, volunteering more, loving more, reading more, writing more, living in the moment more, and focusing on myself more.
I don’t usually make resolutions, but I decided to do so this year to make sure I accomplish the things I hope to. I’m sharing my goals since sharing them with someone means you’re more likely to be held accountable and pull through, but also because I hope this can inspire at least one person to make a list of their own and work towards making the new year one worth remembering.
What do you want to remember 2018 for?
