I would say they have stemmed from all the gay subtext we’ve been drowning in since ep 1. While the writers have never been all that subtle, now BBC is even claiming Sherlock is going to make history… (gay history by finally freeing a famous literary figure who’s been stuck in the closet and in need of fresh air for over a century.) With every charged moment between these two pointing to this being a romance, the obvious conclusion is John and Sherlock declaring their love explicitly … and bloody kissing in front of our faces. It’s fait accompli at this point.
