Any posts from my rewatch are tagged with the episode in the 1x1 format. The Winchesters has the phrase spnwin before it
at my worst (liveblogging) = my liveblog tag. Stick a 2 on the end if you want my spnwin liveblogs (some will also have my main tag depending on how thought out they are)
Told myself i wasn't going to do another spn amv yet and I deffo wasn't gonna do another bowie one but the idea of a bewlay brother' one just keeps eating at me and it's not even a song i particularly care for
And my brother lays upon the rocks
He could be dead, he could be not, he could be you
He's chameleon, comedian, Corinthian, and caricature
MY favourite destiel hug is 11.23 when dean's all suicide-bombed up and ready and cas is like I could go with you and then they hug and he sways like bodily and I think dean should have actually held him closer and harder for five more seconds just then. He was going to die anyway. He should have turned into Cas' hair he should've perhaps left him a little smooch. just like. because he's never going to get the real thing you see. he was gonna die anyway. And didn't he kiss Charlie on her head when they were saying goodbye. It didn't have to mean anything. So he could have done that. He could have let his hand come to Cas' nape, could've buried his face in his hair, could've left a little smooch on the side of his face. Whatever these people don't know how to make television!!!!!!
Mary Winchester (Supernatural) vs. Emily Davis (Until Dawn)
Mary Winchester
Emily Davis
Remaining time: 3 days 18 hours
Propaganda below the cut:
Mary Winchester:
The show brought her back to show she has flaws and wasn't a perfect mother and people act like this was a stupid decision and dislike her character for being messy and not acting like a mother to her now adult sons when that is literally the point of her character.
The fandom largely adopts the show’s misogyny towards Mary and all of its female characters. I don’t actually see very much of this first hand because I am good at curating my online experience, but I do know that people tend to think she should have been a better mom and blame her for things that it makes no sense to blame her for. The vast majority of the fandom also just generally takes Dean’s/the show runners’ perceptions of all the events in the show to be accurate, and all of those views that they take to be accurate are misogynistic.
Mary is a fascinating part of the dead girl genre, especially in how similar to Laura Palmer she is. They both had men trying to solve/avenge their murder as the whole plot of their show, but they also were both entirely misunderstood by these men. Nobody knew about Laura’s sex life/drug use/etc. and nobody knew about Mary being a hunter. Considering that SPN drew some inspiration from Twin Peaks, I would almost think that this is on purpose, but the show itself is so misogynistic that I wonder if they could have done commentary on misogyny on purpose. Mary is the most interesting character in the show imo and I’m sad that the fandom at large doesn’t have more intelligent discussions about her.
Hated for her choices, for wanting to be her own person and not babying her adult children
She was a badass, who was thrown into an impossible situation and did the best she could with it
Emily Davis:
Emily is the "bitch" character in Until Dawn, a game that is basically a slasher sendup where everyone is based on a one-note horror movie character trope. There are some lines where she admits to cheating on her boyfriend with her ex, who is also in a relationship (and therefore cheating), but of course Emily is the ONLY one who gets any blowback for this. And frankly I'm not even convinced it's true, because she only admits to it if the player (as her boyfriend) demands she "tell him the truth" while she is LITERALLY DANGLING OVER A PIT BEGGING HIM FOR HELP. Like, I'd say just about anything in that situation! She's ultimately the only one who successfully completes the task she said she was going to do - calling for help - and is thus the only reason ANYBODY can survive the game. Also she's hilarious and her lines are great. But she gets all of the blame both for the cheating thing and for the prank that kicked off the plot, which ALMOST EVERY CHARACTER IN THE GAME PARTICIPATED IN. She can literally get shot in the face by a man she loves. If you DON'T shoot her, the character who suggested it tries to talk to her after realizing she was paranoid for no reason, and Emily decks her. OBVIOUSLY. SHE JUST LEAPT TO A CONCLUSION AND TRIED TO GET EMILY SHOT IN THE HEAD. But everyone acts like Emily is way out of line. I'D SMACK HER TOO. JUSTICE FOR EMILY.
"UNDERSTAND THE PALM OF MY HAND, BITCH" IS A GREAT LINE AND YOU'RE ALL JUST NOT WILLING TO CUT EMILY ANY SLACK
