Every once in a while I notice I'm following a new blog who I have no idea who it is, but maybe recognize it because a mutual reblogged from them / it's their mutual. Or just from the 'for you' or tags and the only thing I can conclude is I somehow fat fingered the follow button on the tumblr app.
Do I unfollow? No. This is the only way I follow new people and occasionally find new content lmao
prompt thingumy... Theyna where it's Thalia's birthday and Reyna tries to figure out what the "correct" number of candles to put on the cake would be, 'cause of all of her tree time and immortalness? Lots of kisses :)
Thank you so much! Sorry about the delay, I got it really late and I have been really busy. Anyway, here you go!
(I think it’s kinda shitty but thank @percyandtheargonauts for beta’ing okay)
Thalia opened the door of her and her girlfriend’s home inNew Rome. It was a very long-distance relationship, but they made it work. Itwas Thalia’s break from the Hunt, over December, and more importantly- herbirthday.
‘Reyna?’ The Hunter called. She got no reply, but she couldhear some hushed muttering from the corridor. Thalia couldn’t place who it was,and she drew one of her hunting knives. You couldn’t be too careful, shethought, not after the two wars that they’d been put through. The Hunter pushedto door open, and dropped her stance as she only saw a familiar personcrouching, focused. ‘Hey, Rey, what’re you doing?’
The girl whirled around, and her face lit up as she sawThalia. ‘Thal! Happy birthday!’ she said, her face in a wide smile. Thaliacould see the little bit of white something on her girlfriend’s nose. Reynastepped aside and Thalia saw a cake with many candles stuck on the top.
‘What’s up with the candles, Rey?’ Thalia asked. Reynapulled out a lighter and lit all of the candles quickly. The cake was white; itwas icing on Reyna’s nose, then.
‘I couldn’t figure out how many candles would be right,Thal. I thought sticking the whole pack on was my best bet, what with yourwhole tree escapade and the immortality thing,’ Reyna grinned sheepishly.Thalia opened her arms, as if for a hug, and kissed Reyna. When they cameapart, Thalia wiped the icing of Reyna’s nose and tasted it, just for kicks.
‘Mm, nice. Vanilla,’ the hunter murmured, before lookingtowards the cake. The candles had burned down a little, so Thalia inhaledsharply and blew the candles out in a single breath. She stood up straight, andginned at Reyna again. ‘Want some cake, Rey?’
‘I’m getting some, whatever you say, punk. I spent allfucking day on this,’ the praetor muttered the second sentence, and moved backto the kitchen drawers. She retrieved the cake knife and handed it to hergirlfriend, who accepted it, and sliced through the cake.
It was a lovely sponge, and Reyna’s efforts had completelypaid off. They spent the next hour catching each other up on what had beenhappening in their lives. Slowly, the cake got smaller and smaller, until thepair had realised that they had eaten half of it. Reyna suggested they savesome for their friends, and Thalia just wanted to eat the rest of it- shehadn’t had much sweet things recently. In the Hunt, they ate what they caught. And not all of that was as sweet as a sponge.
There was a crash at the door, and that signalled theirfriend’s arrival. Reyna smiled softly and wiped a few crumbs from the corner ofThalia’s mouth, before getting up to greet people, the hunter by her side.
