She’s a pretentious sesquipedalian I mean come on.

Dione’s mother tongue is Church Slavonic, but it’s been a long while since she’s spoken that language frequently. She still writes in it on occasion, but she’s had a century or so to learn English and is far more used to communicating through that nowadays. Her mother also taught her a customized version of sign language (though for convenience I often use ASL), which she still uses, as well. In any case, she’s learned much of what she speaks from literature, and most of the literature she reads is of academic and highly scientific background, hence why her vocabulary is so advanced!

Also! She was raised as a princess up until she was a young adult, so no matter how many centuries ago that was, she still retains much of the royal etiquette and nuance to her speech and general behaviour.

“Well, there is--that is. I was s--, they are very, the other guards in employment here, they, you likely have heard that there is someone on the--No, no that is a terrible idea to mention that, I--” I bit my tongue when I recognized my thoughts were flowing unfiltered into speech without my permission.

The unfortunate thing is that, due to her social anxiety, she’s prone to stuttering and speaking, uh... less than eloquently, whenever she has the chance to speak audibly! At the moment, that doesn’t pose much of an issue, since she’s under a curse that doesn’t allow her to audibly speak! (But quite clearly, that curse is broken for a part in the story~)

Hello, Norfolk! I made it here just in time for dinner with some of the girls in my grad program... now it's 9:30, and I'm back in my hotel room. I was going to ask if anyone had anything fun to do in Norfolk/VA Beach tonight, but then I decided to spend my time taking ridiculous photos lounging in the giant chair in my room, reading, and going to sleep early instead. This must be what grown up choices are like. Right? Right.
