The Pez Visitors Center/Museum, Orange, CT
Today was CT Open House and most CT museums were free entry or discounted entry. I went with a friend to the Pez Museum (Pez are made right here in CT, as are Wiffle Balls). I was fun to see what was added; there are 792 Pez dispensers in the lobby and one of them is the only one of that design ever made as a prototype. Lots of displays, including the motorcycle made for them by Orange County Choppers. Then we went to Bridgeport, CT to the P.T. Barnum Museum ....
The Barnum Museum was a ghastly waste of anyone’s time. The Museum building (beautiful architecture) was badly damaged several years ago in the aftermath of some tornadoes and needs beaucoup millions to restore. There were 20 exhibits in the space they have borrowed next door - took 22 minutes to see. Most everything is digitally viewable online; who goes to a museum to be told everything is viewable online?. There may have been a movie or something but nothing was playing for the 22 minutes I was there. According to the docent, it may be AT LEAST SEVEN YEARS before the building is restored and back to its pre-tornado state, so whatever cool pictures they have on their webpage are of things that simply DO NOT exist anymore. So, if you want to see a fake skeleton of a minotaur, a dried-up Figi Mermaid (fake) and some carriages and clothes belonging to General Tom Thumb there isn’t much else to bother with. I really hope they are not charging admission fees because there is simply nothing worth the trip into downtown Bridgeport to see.
Went to the Pez factory to day.
