Orange Space
Creating Orange Space
Dear Orange People in any Major City,
Alright. I'll cut the crap. The only city I'm referring to is New York City. Syracuse kids LOVE NYC. It's a fact. Whether it's a summer job, living there for eternity, seeing an EDM concert at Barclays, or just heading in for a Saturday night from West Chester or Long Island: it's Cuse nation.
You're bound to run into some classmates, graduates or potential students. In order for Syracuse kids to feel comfortable in the bustling city, it's essential to create an "orange space." A room painted orange? No silly. A room filled with oranges? No idiot. An "orange space" is a recreated space resembling some aspect of Syracuse University.
Here's some tips on how to create and enjoy an "orange space":
- If there's even one Syracuse decoration in a restaurant or bar, don't move. Work phrases like "Boeheim," "Hall of Languages," and "Fiji" into a conversation with the bartender.
-------------------------------------------------
- Work at J.P. Morgan or a communications/media based company. Open your eyes. There's at least 5 or more Orange co-workers!
-------------------------------------------------
- Hang out in Murray Hill. If you blink your eyes fast enough, it's almost like being in Castle Court but with Manhattanites instead of "townies."
-------------------------------------------------
- Go to Bar None. It's as if by some mystical act of the Lord that Harry's was picked up out of a basement and placed above ground in Chelsea. Add some sweat and you're set.
-------------------------------------------------
- Go to Le Bain. It's that tall tower by the Highline that has a clu-- I don't really need to explain it because you probably already know what it is. Newhouse kids love the height of the club because it boosts their pre-existing belief that they are above everyone else.
-------------------------------------------------
- Go to Lubin House. It's Syracuse's satellite office in the Upper East Side so if you don't meet any alumni, then you can at least see Blair Waldorf.
Fondly,
An Orangewoman
