Why do orcs have tusks? They seem inconvenient for eating or communicating and are too small and poorly placed to be any good for fighting or digging. Are they vestigial from a time in which orcs were four legged? Do the orcs like them? Are they slowly evolving them smaller and smaller? Do they have a purpose I've missed? Tolkien fans and biologists please explain
In the event you get the opportunity to have sharp teeth, would you rather have:
Fangs
Tusks
I know your fort is on centaurs, but maybe you could help me? How would two orcs kiss? Like, what would happen with their tusks? They will just *click* and *click*???
let me tell you a story about the time I tried to figure out how orcs kiss though.
I spent like, an hour googling it because I needed to know. For reasons which, if you’re reading this post you’re probably familiar with. Like. Do orcs kiss? How do they kiss? They’ve got those big teefs in the way and like… is that even a part of their culture or is that some weird human thing?
So ages into this and eyeball-deep in forum posts I find this post speculating about orc kisses, and talking about trying to figure it out by using pencils as fake tusks.
So I grabbed to Ticonderoga pencils off my desk, got them wedged in my lips, and chased my husband around our apartment. For Science.
which is how I discovered that if you ever want to try that for the love of all things, use golf pencils not full sized pencils.
Do you have any tips on drawing the different races of wow? Like ears, tusks/teeth, troll hands and feet, etc?
Uumm…I mean I don’t know how to tell like how I draw things xD buuuut here are some things that I have drawn when I wanna practice! Tho I 90% draw only orcs and trolls soo… :’D About hands, I think the best tip I can give is practice to draw normal hands first! I feel like when you know how to draw them its easier to try troll hands! But here are some troll hand holding drawing that I just made.
I mostly draw by looking at some poses of hands because..well…I learn by drawing from models before I can draw without using those! For troll hands, I try to make fingers thicker. Image drawing 2 fingers together. About feet…I still practice those soo…no legs today xD About orc teeth, I made some of these too because I wanted to add more detail to the teeth.
I had some drawing tip on my blog how to draw troll tusks :’D But I guess I could make a new one actually later…but I hope these will help you somehow :’D
Just posting Pics of my Draenei for Draecember, this is my Paladin Artmos. He was one a kind man who had a loving fiancee but she was murdered by the Orcs during the raid of Telmor. He gain a burning hatred of the Orcs that he learned to use his light to burn them, his light slowly fades as he is far too brutal to his enemies. The necklace and the spikes on his mace are Orc Tusks. Art done by Meadowlarking
Most orcs are depicted with having really big lower tusks. When designing ours, I went with larger upper ones (though not for any particular reason). Over the last while, I've wanted to explore what their skulls would look like.
Also I’ve always found it kinda neat how a lot of worlds (middle earth chiefest among them) had orcs being a corruption of elves. I’m not sure I want to go that far, but it’s an interesting thing to explore. Frankly there’s nothing corrupt or tainted about orcs - they’re perfectly reasonable people. It’s elves who are terrible!
