The Machine Whisperers – Beth Comstock Tells Us Why Machines Are At the Center of the Next Economic Revolution
Recently at the O’Reilly Solid conference, GE’s Beth Comstock spoke with attendees to answer the question: What do we mean when we talk about the convergence of physical and digital?
For a physical-first company like GE, the merging of hardware with software is enabling us to spread human intelligence to machines, allowing us to create brilliant machines that are more productive and more predictive.
We’re talking about deep-water sensors that can identify 100,000 different sounds underwater to let operators know whether an oil well is leaking or drilling equipment is failing before any other detection device. Or a jet engine that generates thousands of data points during flight, allowing controllers to observe the health of the engine and predict and diagnose issues in real-time.
These are just some of the ways machines are made intelligent when we combine the physical and digital, and is part of what makes up the Industrial Internet. To learn more, view Beth’s full presentation in the video below.
