In & Of the Land Exhibition, PhotoFringe, Phoenix Brighton. September - October 2020 Representing the London Alternative Photographic Collec
“As an artist and mother inhabiting a fragile world, I want to rethink the way I, my children and my future ancestors, live. Using slow embodied acts of walking, being aware of the time and using natural materials in my work are ways I map a place. It enables me not only to factually communicate what I see but also what is felt, a state of mind. The work attempts to provide a different perspective regarding our sense of selves and well-being In an ever accelerating, digital and disappearing world. Can activism using particular processes or materials, act as a counter to our current sense of loss, anchorage, stability and safety? In the fact of ongoing climate, existential and pandemic crisis, could this type of art point towards alternative possible futures?” Eileen White
