Today I was able to try out my dried paper and a canvas I made. This is how it turned out. Below are all the pieces I made. I used the paper Eoin McCormack made in one of his workshops. I think it’s fine it’s absorbent to an extent but won’t soak up gouache paints or water color. Another type of paper I used is the one I made which I’d say is similar. They both have good texture but can’t absorb water based paints.
On a whim I thought I would try out the ideas I had on making canvas. The idea came from observing canvas board. I thought that it looked a lot like plaster except less rough so I tired that out. Surprisingly it worked out really well and I would highly recommend it for anyone who wants to paint but can’t get canvas in times like these. It has a decent smooth texture that grips paint well, it’s absorbent and strong. What I loved about using it was even If I was using washed down colours the colours wouldn’t come out dull or streaky
