01 - The East Wind Melts the Ice Season: Spring Begins (SPRING) Duration: February 5 - February 9 The Chinese seasonals almanac treats January as part of the winter nodes, so spring starts in February. Even then, there's still a lot of snow at this point -- attributions to plant life won't appear until the 6th node of spring. I didn't plan for Adhara to evoke Amaterasu here, but hey, the amount of daylight does affect how the seasons progress. Next in line: Dormant Creatures Twitch

Chinese Seasonals Almanac - BEGINNINGS

It's high time I made a personal series of artworks again, and this is a pretty ambitious project (involving 72 pieces in total, not including this one).

I first encountered the so-called Almanac of Chinese Seasonals in Liza Dalby's Tale of Murasaki, and it's essentially a calendar based on observations of natural phenomena (but not necessarily straightforward -- some entries involve mystical metamorphoses). This piece was meant to showcase the Oriental Art Deco style I intend to use for the series.
