These are a pair of earrings I made for our Sustainable Jewellery Pop-Up Shop. We had to create jewellery sustainably (aka taking materials we already owned and turning them into something new). I realised that I owned a lot of paper that I never used, so I researched how I could use this. I realised I could make origami jewellery out of this paper, which was simple but still very wearable. I really liked the delicacy of cranes and the simplicity of paper boats. I decided to make the paper boats out of newspaper (to create a sense of nostalgia) whereas the cranes I created out of pink paper I owned. In order to make them more durable, and higher quality, I decided to coat them in melted wax. To attach them to hooks, I bent wire. I really love the delicacy of the final outcome.
